was using ones from home Depot sold in pair for 10 bucks 5 micron. had to change once a month. this is set up for my washer/ dryer only as I'm on a rental and they don't have a plummed in whole house filter on a well system. changed to these 10 micron and this 6 pack has lasted me a year. I'm beginning to think a 15 or 20 mircro would still be suitable just for laundry machines. none the less they work and alot cheaper then the mesh net 5 microns sold at home Depot. before this the sediments has filled my washing machine water valve and glunked it up shut forcing the electrical board to keep trying to open valve, ended up burning up the mother board and valve. my machines where both new purchase when I got on to this rental and broken down with in 6 months. filter work for my needs. already purchased my second year of supply with these filters.

We have three Omni filter bodies in a row to filter out rust from that comes from our small community’s piping, two filters to remove the fine rust sediment and one pleated carbon 1micron filter after them to get any small particles and to give that awesome carbon filtered taste (best carbon we found is a pleated Whirlpool brand from the blue logo big box home improvement store). With the non-carbon filters we get at big box home improvement and big box department stores we have had trouble finding a 1 micron filter and a decent price even on the standard 3 and 5 micron ones that you find there. With big box 3 micron filters what happens is fine rust particles go through both of the first two cheaper filters and clog the pricey pleated carbon behind it, it’s annoying and costly. So most of our rust sediment must be between 1-3 micron and these filters get it all and our carbon stays clear and we replace the cheap non carbon twice before the pleated carbon needs changed. Plus the price is great And we only buy them 6 at a time. Highly recommend

I installed a 2-cartridge filtration unit for my RV. It came with 1 sediment filter followed by a block-carbon filter. The input water pressure is 60 psi and the pressure inside the RV was basically too low to be useful. Therefore, I replaced the carbon filter with a second sediment filter and it works great! Every few months, I replace the first, very dirty filter with the 2nd almost clean one and replace the 2nd with a new one. The supply is city water, so I suspect little to no contaminants, it looks, smells and tastes fine, but anyone suspecting or expecting source contamination should consider using the carbon filter to sort it out. For me, the supply hose lays outside in the FL sun and tons of algae grows inside. The sediment filters are fine and work great for removing this vegetation keeping it out of the RV plumbing and my ice cubes! I frequently had to remove blockages from those wire hose gasket filters, not anymore!
