Excellent starting point and reference
I bought this book because I was starting out with very little knowledge of R syntax and functionality. This book is working well for me. It starts off with how to install and set up the software on a Windows, Mac or Linux platform. The book builds on that starting point with simple examples and exercises that work well for me in a self-paced learning process. This book is not a comprehensive text on statistical analysis theory, nor does it cover programming techniques in significant detail. As the title suggests, it is for beginners wanting to learn how to use R.

THE ULTIMATE R HANDBOOK
There is no better book in the market or in print than this one. If you would like to learn R, this is the book for you. Book treats the reader as being new to R and turns him/her from a Novice to a Professional. Kudos to the author who has done a fantastic job turning his knowledge into a book for educating others. Marvelous explanations and lucid text with diagrams. There is no other book. This is "THE R HANDBOOK" ! Excellent job Dr. Mark !

Good book but not the best
Good book but not the best. Given the way R programming has expanded, we expect authors to distribute their books into various major sections: 1) Dealing with basic programming language, its structure, built in fundtions and supports 2) Statistical applicaiton section 3) Bioconductor like importance and huge package due to which R could beocme popular mainly andr 4) R in Big Data with RHadoop.. Any book lesser than 1000-1500 pages on R is no way going to do justice with R now, in this era of enormous data mining.
