A step above the rest in brightness !!
Insane brightness !!! I had to turn the auto-door-light setting off because with zero visibility tint you can see right through my FJ . Great hyperwhite color and seriously the brightest interior lights I’ve ever seen . I work on cars for a living .

Stupid Bright
Night and day difference in output over OEM bulbs. For the price, I don’t think it can be beat. In the last 2 pics I have on this review you can see how far the light actually spreads outside of the cargo area a couple of feet for some decent light coverage which is a bonus for me as I do a lot of off roading at night and have to frequently stop to get something out of the rear cargo space. The OEM lights before made it a nightmare to deal with and phone lights or flashlights were needed. Not anymore. Whether you have had your FJ 1 day or 10+ years, if you are still running OEM lights on the interior you are doing it wrong. I feel this is one of those vehicle upgrades that everyone would agree is a must rather than a want. For less than $25 you can find out yourself how nice these are. Very impressed.

Somewhat brighter than original
I only installed the two ceiling lights so far. Shaped like bullets with pointy ends. Make sure the yellow square LED patches aim downward into the vehicle, you can gently rotate to adjust them a little bit once inserted. The clean bright white 6000 Kelvin of these bulbs makes the interior easier to see but I looked for the wattage and lumens but could find neither listed. While an improvement over the old incandescent bulbs, I would still prefer more or brighter light inside. (We do keep LED flashlights.) Probably the defect in vehicle design was to not have more interior lights. Note our FJ interior is black black black which is hard to see anything even with bright daylight. As to bulb insertion, be careful not to drop the new bulb as you try to figure out how to find its proper position, because you are working above your head. If it feels loose or looks crooked then it is not in position yet. My technique was to put a pointy end into the hidden side clamp with the tiny hole in it and then push straight upward until the visible metal clamp caught it. Takes multiple attempts so keep hold of the bulb until it firmly holds. Then move the lever to ON to check if it lights. Mine did right away so I did not run into a polarity issue. There are beige pieces of plastic along each end inside of the light fixture that are covers for something and they want to fall out. They are partly held in place by being underneath other plastic parts so be sure to examine how to get them back in, and the little tabs also need to be in position. Does not really click though. Annoying because they are not adjacent to where you are inserting the new bulb and take you by surprise. Then carefully replace the clear plastic light cover until the tabs catch. Also maybe place a light colored large piece of cloth beneath where you are working so when things fall down you can find them and they will not get broken. Hoping these are durable and longlasting. There was another company whose bulbs did include wattage equivalent that seems higher than the original wattage bulbs but the reviews were not as good. It may be that the whole design needs to be different with a much larger LED area that fits into the space. But at least these are inexpensive.

Why did I wait?
In a word, wow. Every time my FJ hits another 1,000 miles she gets a gift. For 213,000 we updated our almost purposeless interior lights with LED's. Loving it. This kit comes with the tool you need to not crack your 17 year old plastic lens. The old bulb pops out, the LED is shaped just like the bulbs and pops right back in. Well, sort of. Someone said to lay down a towel so if it drops you can find it. Great advice, it does take just a little finagling to get in place. I have a set of craft needle nose pliers and the flat tipped ones held the bulb perfectly so I could just "pop" it in place. All in all, each of my two lights took about 2 or 3 minutes. Quickest upgrade since replacing my screw on antenna.
