I was hoping it was a bit softer, but it wasn't uncomfortable. I've felt ones that had a more fabric feel to them.I used these for recovery after surgery and they were formable enough to mold to my face. Kept their cold for about 30 minutes. I'm glad they give you three so you can rotate them. They also are pliable which when wrapping around a joint is a must . They freeze quickly and when taken out of the freezer they last 2-3 hours. I have 2 or 3 of these so they are easily switch out when one is no longer effective. I have not tried them in the microwave yet. With the 2 in the freezer, I can use 1 and have a back-up all ready to go when the other is still re-freezing. These are of a size so they can be placed in just the right spots without being too small or too large.
