This can get into smaller areas to pick up metal items. Works good on cars when trying to retrieve a nut, bolt or screw that dropped. The flexibility and slim size is a plus. The magnet is strong.

I was changing the air filter in my car and instead of clips it uses screws to secure the housing. Of course when I went to put the last screw back in, it fell off the screw driver and fell into the bowels of the engine compartment and did not fall all the way through to the ground. I moved the car back and forth and the screw would not budge even though I could see it. It's a weird screw and the cheapest replacement I could find was over $12 for ONE screw. Then I had the idea to find a tool like this and purchased this one. I took it out of the package, straightened it out, and retrieved the screw in a few seconds. Not only did it save me money overall, but it's a tool I'm sure I will use again and again. It holds the shape well and has a comfortable handle. It could be a little longer but is probably sufficient for most situations and the magnet has good strength.

I was trying to pull a object out of a drain. Whenever I tried to pull it up the magnet dropped the object.

Flexible enough, magnetic end bit is quite narrow, reaching into smaller crevices, strong enough for small screws, and weak enough not to get trapped to metal surfaces on the way out/back with the screw retrieval, screw magnetically attached to the magnet end piece. Good to use !! Got the dropped screw out of the AC on the first try !! It works well ..

I dropped a nut in my engine bay and could not find it. Bought this and after 20 minutes of bending it in various angles and prodding in various areas on the driver’s side of engine bay, I found the nut. The bend you make will keep it’s shape until you change it yourself or get it caught on something I suppose. I didn’t realize it at the time but both red rings shown on the handle had come off on this first time using this tool but the red rings do not enhance the usability so I did not deduct any stars for that. However I thought as this was a new car, Toyota dropped the O-ring in my engine bay. Only a month later did I realize it was from this handle. Not sure where the other red o-ring went though!
