I used the 1-3/8" to drill two holes through 1/2" thick (double 1/4" plates) cold rolled steel (1010 or 1020) and was able to do it with my 1/2" variable speed handheld drill but had to take my time. So the bit wouldn't grab. I was in a tight area where there wasn't enough room to use a mag mount drill press and I was really surprised how well this cutter maintained its sharpness.
