I love Klein Tools, and I have both the automatic wire strippers and these manual ones. I prefer these manual ones as I am 99% certain I will get it the right size of cable stripped each time. The automatic versions are great, but I find it takes longer to get the right amount stripped, and have to adjust at least one time. If you need to do a large amount of continuous size stripping, the automatic versions are great.

Installed new Level 2 vehicle charger, using 6awg wiring. This tool cleanly and easily cut and stripped the wires. Made the job a lot easier.

Klein maintained the same philosophy throughout their operation, IMO, -- Simplicity. That said, this is true Klein design, nothing fancy, no extraordinary features, no exotic materials, and priced accordingly. This is the good. The bad, is that their cutters are consistently either not as sharp as they should be, or cut too deeply for their setting. This product exemplifies those characteristics. Using the 8AWG stripper with remove plenty of stranded copper, that's using the stranded wire cutters. This forces me to use the 6AWG cutter, and pull like heck on it to sever the jacket to reveal all of the copper beneath. That's truly unfortunate, and Milwaukee makes a similar product in this price range that I had considered, but decided on this one. I would suggest any potential buyer try both, and make your decision. Finally, the grip is fine overall, but does not place your wrist in a particularly ergonomic position to provide enough leverage. Had I not tossed out the packaging already, and used the tool fairly extensively, I probably would have returned it. Hopefully Klein can get their machines calibrated properly, so these products don't continue to make it to the market, and they can regain their brand prestige.

Typical wire strippers only work up to #10 wire. So no need to strip big wire with a knife blade anymore. These are clutch, and prevents cutting into conductor while stripping it. If you’re working with #6 & #8 it’s way faster than the alternative.

This tool worked great and you can't find wire strippers that can go to 6 AWG anywhere.
