MT-20-12-MC Mtech USA Mt-20-12 Fixed Blade Hunting Knife, black Bowie Style Blade, black Rubber Handle, 10" Overall

Excellent quality blade. I bought this one with shear intent of putting this knife through the ringers to see how it actually stood up against abuse. I had all intentions of buying another to replace this one once I was done. I took this on three weekend camping trips to use and abuse it. I cut, sawed, chopped and stabbed all kinds of stuff. It came sharp and stayed pretty sharp after all the abuse. I did, however, bend the very tip if the blade when I was digging a hole for a fire and hit a stone of some kind. I used a heavy branch to hit the back of the blade to push it through my logs I was splitting for firewood. I didn't want to use a hammer or anything metal so that I didn't cause damage to the knife on purpose. I just want to see "normal" wear and tear through use. After the couple camping trips I took the knife out and cleaned it up and inspected for damage. Other than the bent tip of the blade I described earlier there were nothing more than scratches on the blade and handle where I dropped it a couple times. The handle is made of some kind of hard plastic like I have never seen before. The blade is made of 440 stainless steel and the knife is made in China, but this is one of the more reliable knives I have owned. I planned on buying another because of the price after I messed this one up putting it through some passes. Even after 3 camping trips abusing the knife as much as I could and every chance I got... to my surprise the knife held up and even stayed pretty sharp. After cleaning it up I plan on putting it back in my pack and using it over and over again... no need to replace it. I do plan on buying 2 more of these knives to put in my other back and in my truck. I was very impressed with the sheath!!!!!!!!!!!! You might be able to tell by the picture but it is an EXCELLENT sheath. The sheath is made out of Kydex, formed to the knife, with a very nice belt loop attachment to secure to a belt (up to 1 3/4" belt). The sheath also has 9 gromets to be able to use 550 cord to attach to your gear bags. The knife locks into the sheath with a loud click and is very secure, but it comes out easily enough when drawn. The knife does not catch on the sheath and the sheath does not damage the knife (vice versa). I would definitely recommend this knife to anyone thinking about buying a good sturdy knife at a decent price. (If) the plastic handle was to ever break, one could always replace the plastic handle with 550 cord.

Let me start by saying I'm not a big knife guy, but for some reason I've started on a knife kick. This is the first one I've bought in probably 7 or 8 years. The last one was a Smith and Wesson Extreme Ops folder. A nice little knife, but it mostly sat on my desk. For $16, I wasn't sure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised. It seems a sturdy knife, full tang, with a glass breaker on the pommel (at least it looks like it could be used for that). I mostly bought this for the cool factor, since it's a pretty cool looking blade. I'm not sure if the ribs on the spine could really be used to cut branches, seems like they would just catch and hang, but I haven't tried it. I'm not sure what the significance is of the little reverse hook at the base of the spine. It's not sharp, so it's not for cutting. If someone knows, please let me know. The handle is tight, no looseness that I can detect. Not sure how comfortable the grip would be after a half hour of use. I've seen a lot of references to wrapping it with grip tape or paracord, but I've never done that. The sheath is pretty no frills, but it does its job. I saw someone else mention they wrapped the sheath with paracord, using the grommet holes. I guess that's for survival use, so you have some cord to bind things to make a shelter, traps, etc. Though you could only bind half of it, otherwise you'd lose the belt clip. This seems like the kind of knife you'd have attached to the outside of a backpack. So far, happy with the purchase.

Ran it through the sharpener a few times and it is razor sharp, quit acting like babies and sharpen a dull knife if it is so, this is a great knife. I thought he handle was a bit small, even for my smaller hands, so I wrapped it in a roll of racket tape and it is perfect, SUPER grippy and tacky, organic and strong, super durable. I don't have a complaint or gripe on the knife. Great sheath as well, ONLY thing I would ask for is a removable belt clip, or a MOLLE compatible one. I will wake it work on the left front mount of my bag to function as a second chest mount on my 5.11 Tactical RUSH 24 and 72. All in all, GREAT buy and knife to have behind a BK7. For the dollar, you cant beat it, but still have yet to find too many under the $180 mark that can hold up to the BK's

I bought this for my spouse because he was looking for a knife with this sort of design that wasn't extraordinary expensive. Overall he really liked it. However, the belt clip broke off of the case after he wore it for a couple of weeks. He wasn't a fan of the belt clip anyway because it is stationary (rather than a swivel). In all reality he probably would have eventually broken the clip off on purpose so he could fashion it the way he wanted to (but he hasn't actually figured out how he wants to do so yet. haha.). I wasn't a huge fan of the case in general because it is a little bulky and hard plastic like material. He didn't mind it. He was hoping that the back edge of the blade where it tapers would be sharped making it a double edge blade but it isn't. This wasn't a huge deal but was kind of a bummer. The blade that is sharpened is not excessively sharp but will certainly do the trick. The knife has a very solid, balanced feel and the sawback is definitely sturdy enough to really go at something. Overall, this is a pretty good knife, especially for its price point as similar knives he was looking at cost much much more.

A modo de resumen rapido. Es un buen cuchillo con buenos materiales, se siente pesado y grande sin exagerar, aunque quizá no se le pueda sacar mucho provecho, para usos mas normales o "rudos" pero mas generales, es preferible un cuchillo con otro tipo de hoja o incluso una navaja. He leído algunos comentarios y veo que lo han comprado sin conocer las funciones. Para que no te lleves una sorpresa desagradable hay que aclarar algunas cosas. Primero que nada, la hoja es de tipo desollador, aunque no al 100% quizá se parece mas a las falcatas, dichas hojas son muy agresivas, no están precisamente pensadas para cortar "cosas" mas bien están echas para atravesar seres vivos. Si lo que quieres es solamente cortar cosas (multiusos) es mejor una navaja o cuchillo con filo recto o ligeramente curvado. La hoja de éste cuchillo quizá te resulte un poco mas difícil de afilar. Una cosa que me causo mucha gracia es que alguien comentó que la sierra no sirve... bueno no sirve como sierra por que no es una sierra, se llama almenado y sirve para desgarrar la piel, músculos, órganos, etc. Como ya dije es un cuchillo de caza, es bastante agresivo, lo que se busca es que se de una estocada completa y causar el mayor daño posible, esa "sierra" es letal, provoca mas daños que el filo en si. Es un cuchillo integral, por lo que es una sola pieza a la que se le agregan las cachas para formar el mango y NO son de plástico. Entonces la pieza de metal va desde la punta hasta el rompecráneos... Si, esa punta en la parte trasera es para partir cráneos. No es una navaja ni un cuchillo para acampar (o sea si se puede usar para eso) pero esta diseñado para ser un cuchillo de caza. Cada pieza esta diseñada para hacer mucho daño... A por cierto, retomando el comentario que leí... por supuesto que la parte que esta sobre el almenado (la sierra) no es un destapador de cervezas XD es parte de la guarda. Una cosa mas, la funda es de un plástico muy resistente y el cuchillo encaja perfecto, ademas tiene mucho agujeros en las orillas por si no lo quieres traer en el cinturón y prefieres amarrarlo a tu pierna u otro lugar.

Super Nice

This is not exactly a finely made piece of craftsmanship, but it's a good, solid, serviceable blade, and more than one expects for $16. Came reasonably sharp. Feels a bit nose-heavy due to the profile. The saw teeth don't seem very useful, but at least they don't interfere with a draw from the sheath. Extra points for a pretty good sheath - rigid, heavy spring-loaded belt clip, and finally! a sheath that secures the blade from accidental deployment! My only gripe is how high the sheath rides on my belt - makes it a bit awkward to re-sheath the knife. The belt attachment needs to be right at the top of the sheath. I'll give them 5 stars just for the otherwise good sheath, though.

Me gustó, es resistente y de buen tamaño, se mira de buena calidad y al tacto se siente un buen producto... La funda que trae es de un material plástico (similar al de la agarradera) que al meter o guardar el cuchillo tiene una especie de seguro muy firme, es decir, al guardarlo se presiona hasta hacer clic, y asegurando que esta totalmente adentro, al sacar el cuchillo se jala con algo de fuerza para liberarlo... Vale la pena la compra, cada peso está bien pagado...

I purchased this knife to include in an emergency preparedness kit. This is a "I hope I never have to use this" kind of knife. I wanted something that had a good sized fixed blade and was not too unwieldy to hold or use. On that account, this knife satisfies those requirements comfortably. It is a solid weight and feels substantial. It feels like you are a holding a real tool. My only complaints are that the fit and finish aren't great. The sheath is pretty rough plastic with rough edges and unfinished bits hanging off the sides. The plastic on the handle is pretty uncomfortable and digs into the hand. The knife arrived quite dull. It's very solid and I'm glad to have it, but this is definitely a "get what you paid for" scenario (CAD$15).
