Review: Great tool for body work, contour shaping - For such a seemingly simple thing, an 11” length of rectangular rubber, this sanding block made all the difference when blocking my new quarter panels. The contours were so much easier to achieve with this block and using 80 grit PSA sandpaper to knock down & shape the high points, and then feather edge using 150 grit. The block is easy to grip using nitrile gloves and it has just the right amount of stiffness for panel contours. The passenger side I did not use this block and it took me more than twice as long, this block made the driver’s side much easier. I’m not a pro, I’m welding in new patch panels and doing my own bodywork to save some $$$ prior to a paint respray by a pro, but this save me a lot of time and made for professional-looking results. Can a 9' x 11" sheet be used or do you have to buy the roll.** A: I used 9x11 sheets folded around the block, if you wet sand one sheet will last along time. **Q: Can you use sticky back velcro to use hook and loop?** A: I’ve converted all my blocks to hook and loop. Make sure they are cleaned with acetone or thinner real well, dry and them apply the loop side. A good panel adhesive or glue will help hold it even better than what comes on the hook and loop tape. **Q: Will this work to blend peeling clear coat?** A: For sharper curves and crevices with 7,000 grit wet/dry sand paper you could properly prep smaller area's of the surface for blending in clear coat. Be careful, you need a really light touch or you'll remove the paint.
