Elite Package: Reizen Loud Ear 120dB Gain Personal Amplifier

Here's my review after using with my elderly mom over the past 3 months: this amplifier works well. The headphones that come with it are underwhelming, I highly recommend spending an extra few bucks on a set of basic over-the-ear headphones that give better coverage around the ears instead (amazon has them for about $10). Well worth it. Also a box of generic AAA batteries. They'll last a long time. When I first took the amplifier out of the box I thought that the build quality seemed cheap for the price I paid to be honest, but after 3 months of regular use with different headphones I actually have no complaints. It's small, lightweight, and gets the job done.

This unit is well worth the money as opposed to the lower prices Reizen unit. With the cheaper unit the ear buds fall out at the slightest movement. There is some static and crackling sounds. The better unit has comfortable headphones that stay on. The sound quality is much better quality. As with all amplifiers the less of the total amplification ability you have to use, the better the sound quality is. If course any personal amplifier will also pick up sounds in the room, but in a quiet place you will hear very well. Pay the extra and get the better Reizen. Use large safety pins to secure it to the arm of your easy chair.

There is too much feed back in the headset. I can hear every word I say amplified in the headset. I hear very little in terms of the external voices for which the device is supposedly designed to amplify. Sorry, but not worth the purchase. Item is being returned for failure to do what it claims.

I bought this about 4 moths ago to use at church. It works well, I just have to turn it off when we sing or it is too loud but it is great for sermon and announcements. I use it with the headphones as the earbud is hard to use since I wear hearing aids and have to take one out of my ear to use that and then the sound isn't balanced. But, the headsets work fine. However, last week I was driving to Bible Study and picked up the device off the seat. It was hot. It didn't turn on and was getting hotter. I opened the battery compartment and the batteries were getting hotter, burned my finger getting them out. It appears to have shorted out, while turned off and not being used. I changed the batteries and the device is completely dead. As I depend on it, and since it has given good service up to this time, I ordered another, got it in 2 days and can hear what is going on again. I have shown mine to 3 people, my age, in church, who have expressed an interest in buying the device so I talk nice about it, but am concerned about the shorting out. What would have happened if I hadn't picked it up and found it hot? Would it eventually caught on fire? Could it have caused a fire in my vehicle?

We bought this for my mom to use until she can get new hearing aids. Will hold onto it for when she loses them again!

We started out really loving this product for my 90-year-old mother. However just as the return window closed which is only about six weeks since purchase; the case has become loose and the hearing is intermittent. No amount of “MacGyver work“ has been able to permanently correct it. Very sad. Just doesn’t hold up. BUT there is not a lot out there—may try a second one to see if first wasn’t an exception in terms of quality.

IT works great for watching TV

Very cheaply made and don’t pick up audio very well. Returning them is next to impossible. I threw them in garbage after trying to send them back. I would not buy these.

Price has really gone up for this item. Very cheap headphones and the cord is too short for the microphone. 3 stars because it is better than nothing just way overpriced
