Gamma2 Vittles Vault Outback Airtight Pet Food Container, 40 Pounds

I’m using this stacked on top of my 60 lb Vittles Vault, and it fits securely without taking up extra space. The seal is strong. Once the lid is lined up and tightened, it keeps the food fresh with no odor escaping. I don’t personally deal with insects where I store it, but the rubber gasket feels tight enough that I can see how it would keep ants or other pantry pests out. The only minor drawback is that the lid needs to be aligned properly before it threads on smoothly. Not difficult, just something to be aware of. Great way to store dog food. Holds 30lbs and Is easy to open and close. It’s a little awkward to get food out when volume is low but this is a really good product.

I first bought a pair of these about 15 years ago. At the time we had both dogs and cats and I was tired of cleaning ants out of the pantry, including the pet food. They seal tight and no more ants! Even when fighting (ich) mice or rats, they were not in the pet food. I do know someone who tried to keep these in an environment where raccoons could get to them, and those big critters did some damage. The 40 lb. vault barely held our 40 lb. bags of kibble. We were using a kibble that was at least 1/3" diameter (1 cm). To fully load the vault it had to be turned the tall way and the kibble tapped down. If you want to easily load 40 lbs. and you have the space, consider getting the 60 lb. size. My pantry was narrow and I wanted to save space. Another note about the fully loaded 40 lb. vault: If you stack it on top of another one the opening may get squeezed and a little hard to operate. But, still, no ants! I didn't care. Now after a few years without pets I bought a new one to gear up for a new dog. I did look around a bit for a good plastic free option and did not find anything I liked. I came back to another Gamma Vitals Vault. FYI, the company makes their lids in "food grade plastic" I you can put on food grade buckets for people foods. Even with the growing concern about plastic I am still using those for bulk quantities of foods I rinse like brown rice and dry beans. And still, no ants, or worse yet mice!

I got this to replace another Gamma dog food container that broke while cleaning it (my fault, not the container). I like this one, but it doesn't actually hold the full 34lb Purina Pro Plan bag of dog food that I get, even though it says it holds 40 lbs. That was a little disappointing. I do like the shape and offset placement of the lid, it works well, easy to open and close and seals well. I just wish it held the full bag of dog food so I didn't have to spend a few days with the bag still around before I could add it.

I will 100% recommend this! It's been 2 years and not once did we have any insects get into my cat's dry food and I love how it's so easy to screw and unscrew 👍🏻🐾

We have to buy special dry food first our cats which stinks this keeps all odors at bay and it is exceptional at keeping dry food fresh. It is also easy to fill and very easy for us as older people to open would highly recommend for odor retention and ease of opening plus none of our 5 cats can chew thru it would buy again

What we all need is an airtight dog food container to keep food fresh & ants away, as well as stackable so other stuff can be stacked on top & yet it’s accessible. Also large enough for 18kg food pack. That’s what u get with this container. Very happy with it. Colour is also nice & pleasing to the eye …as an extra bonus.

This container is fantastic. I tend to buy small bags of dog food so they do not go stale as my dog is mainly on a raw diet, but I give her a little kibble as a topper for her so it has some crunch, why I don't know, just started doing it when she was a pup to get ride of her last bit of kibble and she seems to like it. Anyways, I know by the large bags of dog food as it saves significant money when buying it in bulk. The container has a nice gasket seal, sturdy plastic and is easy to store in the apartment beside the fridge. IT keeps the smell down so the dog isn't over trying to constantly get into it, keeps any bugs out if there are any in the apartment and I can store the food for months and it stays fresh. Highly recommend if you buy your food in bulk.

Excellent quality, keeps kibble dry. The shape is meh, I’ll buy a rectangular one next time.
