Robert's Rules of Order in Action: How to Participate in Meetings with Confidence Review: A Fun Nonfiction Read, Chock Full of Useful Information on Meetings of All Kinds - I didn't expect this book to be as interesting of a read as it turned out to be. With nonfiction works such as this, I typically dive in expecting to be slightly bored, yet informed, but that was not the case at all with this book. As a matter of fact, I received more than just the typical "dos" and "don'ts" from this guide; I was interested from cover to cover. That in itself impressed me. This book covers several different aspects of holding public and private meetings, whether among a group as small as a family or a group as large as congress. It touches on many different topics including why rules of order are important and in which situations they may (and should be) used. From how to start a meeting to how to refine a decision, this book includes it all. Below are several of the main topics the book discusses: Starting a meeting How to behave in a meeting Calling a meeting to an end/recess Making proposals Debating Refining a decision Democratic process Voting Leadership The book also features examples and a small section at the end that covers what to say, when to say it, and how to say it. Overall, this is a book chock-full of useful information that may be applied to several different areas of your life. * Product provided for free in exchange for an unbiased review. All opinions are my own. Review: "Bring your meeting to order" with Robert's Rules of Order - Although I am not a meeting organizer or on the board of any association, this book was helpful. I attend meetings for my condo association and this book certainly help me learn how a meeting should be run. Our meetings start out OK, but always wind up with everyone shouting out their opinions. I especially like the chapter about members speaking and when a member of the meeting should speak. It discusses how to reply to a subject being discussed and how to get your opinion across to the board and members in a clear and orderly way. This book is easy to read and small enough to carry around. You can have it at every meeting without taking up space. The index and glossary are at your fingertips for quick look up on any topic. I think I will give this to my homeowner' s association. Maybe they can get our meetings a little more orderly. " I received this product for free in exchange for my honest and unbiased review"

This book really has a lot of helpful information in it
I am not good when it comes to speaking with people. I get tongue tied and embarrassed real easy. That makes it really difficult sometimes when applying for jobs or having an important conversations with Dr's and schools which isn't good because sometimes I will just agree with them instead of standing up and stating my point. This book talks about ways to start and communicate in meetings or clubs. I love that it has "practice" meetings that you can read to get an idea of what to say and how to say it. That has helped me a lot when it comes to my sons IEP meetings that I have to go to. I no longer feel like we have to do things the way they want they want to because now I know how to talk in the meeting and be able to discuss all of the options that will help my son. This book really has a lot of helpful information in it and although at first I didn't think I would be interested in reading this book, I am glad I did because it has really made a difference in the way I handle meetings. I received this product as a sample to test and review. This review is solely my opinion. The I information I provided is what I experienced.

Practical, Portable Manual
I have read portions of Robert's Rules of Order which we used in 4-H meetings and also PTA meetings, but this kindle edition is the one I'll take with me as it is so easy to use. Not only do the contents cover all the facets of proper parliamentary procedure, but I found the glossary of terms to be most helpful even to this veteran "chairperson." It is surprising how many times a question arises over terminology right in the midst of a meeting. How convenient to just be able to pull up the "glossary" and give the official definition. The example dialogues can be very helpful when nervousness has set in and the rules just don't translate naturally into actual speech. I would say that anyone needing to set the structure could benefit from this kindle edition with gratitude to Mr. Robert's foresight and diligence back in 1876 when he compiled the original "Robert's Rules of Order." The history of the original book and various editions and revisions is also covered in this handy manual. I was delighted to receive this book in return for my honest review and will most certainly be using it!

A book everyone should have!
This is a book everyone should read and keep to reference back when needed. This book talks to you about how to carry yourself through various types of meetings, and even gives you samples of the appropriate responses. This book has 9 chapters and the first chapter I found the most important and that was " Why We Use Robert's Rules of Order". When your in a meeting with people that are over your head you want to come across like you know what your doing well this book can do better than that it can teach you how do actually do it. You will be able to sit in a meeting and be heard or run the meeting yourself just by reading this book right here! I have taKen lots of notes from this excellent book and will apply them when necessary for now on. If you need help in a debate this book can help you it also has a chapter on motions and amendments those I found interesting. I love learning new things and I definitely learned a few new tricks just by reading this golden book! I received this book to review for my honest unbiased opinion.

This is a great reference book
This is a great reference book. It is a great tool to us to help you to be more active in your participation in group settings. I am not sure about everyone else but I tend to shy away from any sort of public speaking. This has been a good go to book for me to help me build my confidence. I enjoyed reading it a lot and although I didn't think it would be so helpful at first it has proved to be a great asset for me. This is a must have for anyone needed help with confidence and being able to participate in the group setting more. I am so glad I was able to purchase a book like this and use it often. This is. My go to book I carry it with me and refer back in it often. I purchased this product for a reduced price to make an honest and unbiased review.
