i love this thing. it looks great. its super easy to install. if you ever changed a deadbolt you can do it easily. its one wire that has to get plugged in. the best thing about it is the peace of mind. the app works great and is super easy to install/use/understand and tells u the status of the lock. and you can lock /unlock remotely. the lock does make a little noise during the operation if youre using the keypad and not the key but honestly it could be ten times louder and i wouldn’t care. the only question is the durability. its been in for a few weeks and working fine i will update this review if time takes a toll on the thing and wears it out. right now very satisfied. its a bit expensive but if you are security conscious like me its worth it by a lot

I don't understand how people are having issues with these. I'm a licensed electrician that performs work on electronics like these constantly. Instructions are very clear and simple to follow. Anybody would be able to install this, yes, even if you have absolutely no experience with door locks. Make sure that once you are done, or before you even start, you download the app and follow the on-screen instructions. I've always bought Kwikset door locks for the simple fact that not only they have a wide variety of products, they're the only ones I've found that you're able to change the barrel to YOUR existing key, as long as it's the same size key. Therefore no locksmith needed, nor having different keys for every single door of your house. The process to re-key the lock literally takes less than a minute. The Kwikset app has options for different pass codes for everyone in the family, has options to automatically lock the door after determined time. You can also add to Google assistant, or Alexa device to lock and unlock code (voice has either have to be saved for certain person, or you'll need to set up a code to unlock the door with voice assistant, I chose neither and don't care for the option of unlocking the door with voice assistant, just locking is good enough for me). Really great design, easy to install, extremely easy to use, and numerous options to work it, my favorite is that I can unlock it from anywhere in the world as long as I have internet available, which is huge since I have people that come and go to the house, best part is you can set temporary codes for each person as well, and you will have a log of who unlocked the door, so if something happens you know who the last person was to unlock that door. I would give it 6 stars if I could, the only downfall for me (which is really not a problem) is that it doesn't have fingerprints built-in, would have been nice to have that option, but not a big deal at all since the lock works phenomenally well. Update: The batteries needed to be changed and since then, cannot pair, cannot connect. Goes through an endless loop of Bluetooth pairing which fails because the lock is already configured, so factory reset the lock, then try to pair again, then a fail because device is already paired, then delete the pairing and try to re-pair, which fails because it cannot connect to the Internet even though the Internet is fine, then needing full access to contact history and calls. ABSOLUTE PIECE OF JUNK. I bought this to replace a Schlage unit of similar specs and main concern was that it fit the existing cutout and had a telephone keypad setup. It was also one of the lower priced models. Installation seems to be well though out. Each step of the install had a separate box with the items needed. Only tool needed for my installation was a Phillps screwdriver but you may need additional tools to drill holes or cleanup the door jamb. The instructions include a QR Code to access a video version of the installation which I turned to for some portions. Installation mostly followed the manual. I used a Dremel to cleanup the strike plate seating as the strike plate is much longer than the previous one and slightly narrower. Seating the exterior keypad was a bit cumbersome as it kept falling off while adjusting. I used painters tape to hold it in place while I threaded the connectors through. One minor annoyance was that the connector from the exterior keypad to the lock mechanism doesn't click into place which made me unsure if it was seated correctly. It was a bit fiddly to put in place but worked. On attaching the batteries the lock did a calibration step. Per the instructions, if it failed I would need to adjust but it didn't really say what needed to be adjusted. This step is important as it affects the usage of the lock. Once that was completed, attaching the interior cover was a bit fiddly also. There are two screws that hold the interior mechanism to a mounting plate. They are not counter-sunk. When attaching the cover these screws got in the way so you have to carefully line up the cover. Then you add two screws to secure the plate. These also are not counter-sunk and protrude. They are also not rounded so seem unfinished and ill-fitting. I could see catching a finger on this bit of metal. Minor but annoying. The battery cover plate was annoying to remove. There are no ridges, just a shiny piece of black plastic, so it was neeedlessly difficult to access. All of these were annoyances but the reason for the 3 stars is that using the app to program the lock requires registering with the Kwikset site and giving an email and a phone number and Wifi network access. I don't use those features and there didn't seem to be a way to bypass this. The reason this is annoying is because there are countless hacks against IoT databases. I don't know Kwiksets security stance but given the history of other "security" devices, it's definitely a concern. The app allows you to set features such as Auto-lock and Auto-Unlock, Lock sound, battery state, Status LED, etc.. You can also remotely unlock the door when on the same Wifi network. Once all this is setup you can use the lock. The exterior keypad is black until you touch the screen. Enter the code and with luck, the lock will open. In summary, the lock works. If it were more expensive I'd probably return it but for the price it's acceptable.

Easy to install and works well, it is good product, but lost two star due to wireless setup, I have Aruba access points at home and has 5ghz steering enabled and due to that it could not find the wireless network, once it happen I could get it wo work again, until I did MFG reset. Make sure you disable band steering, and if you could setup 2.4ghz only network, I already had isolated network just band steering cause issue. Looks like wireless chip is not that good, I get full signal strength with my phone but lock only get one bar, I have access points within 10ft radius. So 3 star is due to wireless setup. I will update the review about the battery life about in 2-3 month. 1st month update, installed on Feb 1st. currently battery is about 75% after month and half use. auto lock is disabled. 2.4ghz signal is high to strong.

I have never changed door handles or deadbolts before, but this was very straightforward. All that is needed is a Phillips screwdriver. The instructions are well written, and the illustrations are clear and helpful. The hardest part about this was getting the lock to pair with my phone. If you have a wifi repeater put it as close to the lock as possible. After MANY failed attempts, I moved my repeater to within 4 feet of the lock, and it paired on the first attempt. I then put the repeater back in its usual spot, and 5he lock continues to work well. The app is intuitive, and easy to use. I connected it to Google home, and Alexa, and now i can use voice commands to lock or unlock, as well as check the status(locked or unlocked). The lock can be set to lock at a specific time. The best part is being able to unlock my door while on my way home, so I can bring in groceries without fumbling to open the lock. There is a geofencing capability, which unlocks the lock upon your return, which is really awesome. But due to the area I live in, it wasn't reliable. So i just use voice commands to unlock it while still in my car. I have been using it for two weeks now, and the battery is at 90%, which seems reasonable, due to all my experiments with it.

Update 10-11-2022 It seems that things have settled down now power wise. I put in new set of batteries in early August and they are now down to 50% so I would guess it’s possible to get 4 months of use out of one set of batiereis ( I am using Energizer) and this is acceptable to me. I still wish I could add an battery pack with C batieres to it…. It does seem to be worthy of 4 stars so I am upgrading my review to reflect that….; I am pretty impressed with many aspects and features of this Kwikset halo WIFI Smart lock. UPDATE 7-23-2022 The battery level has held steady at 80% until now. We manually lock it form the inside and lock/unlock is below 10 per day. So for now I am happy. i will do another update in a month. Original review Its very solidly built with a lot of thought gone into the design of it. It looks good Touchpad is quite responsive, certainly more than good enough for its purpose Installation took a while longer because the unit I received from Amazon did not behave as expected (it turned out to be defective) Connecting to Bluetooth was OK, also was connecting to wifi. I had to fine tune the lock assembly to remove a slight drag as the dead-bolt reciprocated to lock and unlock positions. As mentioned in parentheses, the amazon lock was defective and i had to return it. I bought a replacement for the same price from a local big box hardware store. This installation went faster because it was second time around and I had already uninstalled the Amazon bought lock. I installed the app on my Pixel 6 Pro it was fairly straightforward if a little laborious. Here is where things are a bit uncertain… By the way, I have set the auto-lock to off and manually lock it from the inside. The first day, the battery level was at 100% Second day it dropped to 90% Third day between 07.00 and 14.00 the battery level dropped to an alarming 60% There was less usage than the 10 locks/unlocks so the usage was fair, so I was alarmed at such a drop. Fourth Day, the battery level went back up to 70% then later in the day to 75% Fifth Day, it went up again to 80% Its mid afternoon now on the fifth day and its holding steady at 80% At 60% I was ready to return it, because using 40% in 3 days was outrageous but it has given itself a reprieve and I am carefully monitoring the battery usage. This reviews is using the 4 batteries that came with the unit. This is a really good lock that ideally needs an optional battery pack with size C batteries that can be attached to the door close to the unit. If I can get 4 months usage out of the batteries I would be happy, I will be doing follow up reviews as to how this goes. I do agree with Kwikset that there must be NO drag on the deadbolt or this will eat the battery. I have carefully made sure there is no drag and have also adjusted the lower lock to make sure the door closes soothly in line with the deadbolt. I love the convenience of this smart lock, The ability to lock/unlock this form anywhere is a real boon to me. One recommendation is to use manual lock so when you close the door you manually lock it, this will save a lot of battery. I also carry a key and sometimes use that instead of using the motor. Also, i have used several smart locks (non wifi) and this is the best of all of them even considering the battery concerns. I wish it had a fingerprint reader but for what is is is excellent with room for improvement. AN aftermarket battery pack for be very welcome… So far I approve, stay tuned for updates,,,,

Writing a review since there seemed to be mixed ones here. I installed it in place of an existing kwikset standard deadbolt. No issues on the installation. All of the holes lined up. The installation went quick and the instructions are straightforward. I didnt have any issues connecting the app and setting up codes. Remote locking and unlocking works great. No issues rekeying the lock. I did not link it to alexa or do any geofencing. I keep it locked and don't see a benefit from this. The autolock feature is nice to have. My only small complaint is it seems louder than other times I used a smart lock. I don't have one for a side by side so it might just be me. No need for a tone announcing the unlock and you can clearly hear it. I can't speak for the battery life. If I have to change them once or twice a year that is not a big deal. Happy overall so far.

Excelente, la recomiendo ampliamente, me fue muy facil instalarla y configurarla que luego resulta muy complicado, en este caso me fue muy sencillo y la cerradura trabaja perfectamente, obviamente como todo este tipo de cerraduras consume las baterías con cierta velocidad pero no mas que otras cerraduras electrónicas que he usado mucho mejor que 2 cerraduras Yale que he tenido y ambas dieron problemas en poco tiempo y se consumian las baterías a una velocidad increible Gran Cerradura!!!

Bought this lock for a new front door. After the install tried to install the app only to find the Kwikset Halo app is not support in Australia. Total disbelief and frustration.
