Maglite Heavy-Duty Incandescent 6-Cell D Flashlight in Display Box, Black

A nice little light from maglite, like usual the beam is not perfectly round, but it is made in the US and it is cheap. Pros- *cheap at around twenty five dollars. * tough maglite aluminum exterior wont rust. *Made in Ontario, California (I believe) or SOMEWHERE in the US, not a "Made in China" Stamp to be found. *bright but unimpressive for its size compared to modern expensive LED lights like those by Surefire or Streamlight. * heavy enough to knock someones block off in the middle of the night or on the side of a road Cons- *Finish Scrapes off pretty easily if rubbed against something rough * lumpy light beam pattern, common on all Maglites * Heavy (I know I know I said it was a pro) It is too heavy to carry all day long, if you really want to carry a maglite id suggest a 4 D cell or even a 3) If you are a police officer or someone who wants to defend themselves but cant carry a gun I would suggest a Surefire or Stream light light and an ASP baton (really hurt someone with one (read kill someone) if you dont know what you are doing so be careful and get some training if you are going to carry a baton and make sure it is legal in your area.) Overall I would suggest the maglite if you want a huge light that you will keep at your bedside or in the car.

This is my sixth 6-D Cell Maglite in my lifetime. I've used them for camping, power outages, walking at night, work and home repairs. The first four that I bought in the 1980s were one each for me and my three brothers and as far as I know, my borthers all have and use theirs. When mine was stolen in 1994, it was still working. The fifth one that I bought (my second) in 1994 was using it's original style bulb until 2005 when I replaced it with a TerraLux TLE-6EX LED bulb replacement kit, at the time a fantastic upgrade from the standard bulb. It was still working until recently when it was stolen. This time along with the Maglite, I bought and installed an HRQP 3 Watt LED bulb replacement kit and it's the brightest 6-D Maglite that I've owned. There are brighter LED kits available for this flashlight, but I don't need anything brighter than this. It's a bright, durable and reliable brute that will last for years, as long as someone doesn't steal it. It's my go-to flashlight.

The legend itself; this is as close to it as it comes. Despite losing one of the much sought after, alkaline, D batteries, and only being a 6-Cell, this is a beast. If you're a illumination enthusiast, a guy who happens to like flashlights, a guy who gets paid to intimidate people, a guy who needs something reliable to ward off aggressors, or just a boy scout on an outing; this is what you want. This is what you need. This is what anyone who has "flashlight" in their mind, should be picturing, and it's soooo perfect. Also, you can slam it on both a cinder block, or solid brick, and both will break (not recommended, just saying from experience). Seeing where you're going at night, and self defense, combined with an excessively long battery life, are the reasons for a 5 star on this. (Psst... yeah you, reading this review. You probably already saw the tempered-glass lens replacement if you've seen this on Amazon, so go ahead and add that to your cart; talk about making something perfect better.

I am very happy and contended to this product, Superb quality, i cannot find any negative to say. I am considering to buy another one, and also i highly reccommend this to all flashlight enthusiast like me. Its worth for the price. BUT.. I am not happy with Amason, i bought mine in Amazon, the advertised specification is Mag-num Star Xenon Bulb. but when i open the box and inspect it right away, it comes with Krypton bulb which really disappoint me. Thruthfulnes is sometimes hard to find. I carefully did my research between S6D015, S6D016 & S6D035 all of these are Maglite 6D. I did not choose the S6D016 & S6D035 because their specs is with Krypton bulb and the only model with Mag-num Star Xenon bulb is S6D015 thats why i order this model, then now i got the specs that i hate. I am not really happy with Amazon fullfillment center. I am now ended up buying Terrulux TLE-6EX LED Bulb. it cost me another $16. I will give 5 star to Maglite 6D but I will give - 1 star to Amazon, so i will give 4 star in total.

These old-school Maglites may have been far surpassed in terms of lighting performance by newer entries--in fact, I have a number of much smaller but much brighter tactical flashlights myself--but they're still works of art. The 6D weighs 3 lbs or so with batteries installed, making it a useful head-smasher if you need such a thing. Yeah, the Jetbeam PC10 I carry in my pocket in case I'm ever in a situation where I might need light to see what I'm shooting at is tiny, lightweight, and bright in comparison, but for a truck light there's no beating these Mags. If you want to bump up the lighting capability, go get yourself a Terralux TLE-310MEX led insert to put in this light, which also makes it stupid bright along with improving the battery life.

Long, with batteries, heavy. Add a HQRP LED bulb and you have one seriously bright flashlight, and a potentially serious bludgeoning instrument if need be in self defense. In certain neighborhoods I will carry this light. I keep the head dialed down to a narrow beam to temporarily blind someone so I can step out of a danger zone. WARNING: If you were to do what I did and put a high intensity LED bulb in a 6D cell MAGLITE, don't ever look into it, while turned on. You might cause eye damage to yourself. However on a dark night, where there are no street lights, and you need something really bright, this is your light. I scared a Black Bear with this light one night. With the LED bulb installed, I spotted a bear headed for my bird feeders. I shined the light right into the bear's eyes and it tried to block the light with it's paws. I then grabbed the top of a metal trash barrel hit it with my new MAGLITE and growled really loudly, then shined the light back into it's eyes, and it ran off.

a year and a half later, it still works well. I haven't tried killing zombies with it yet, but I believe it would work just fine if I ever had to.

Finalmente trovata una torcia 'classic' style come non se ne fanno più, purtroppo. Pesante il giusto e con un fascio di luce davvero molto penetrante. Certo, non è da cruscotto in macchina ma se vi trovaste immersi nella natura come è successo a me per un lavoro (fotografia), o in campeggio, potrete sicuramente apprezzarne le autentiche qualità di torcia professionale. Unica precauzione: se la temperatura è bassa non lasciatela a terra per troppo tempo perché il case in alluminio si raffredda davvero tanto è le batterie ne risentono.

This is a terrific flashlight. A bit long and heavy for most practical to carry around. Great around the house as a flashlight. I did an LED modification for it. I bought a kit on Amazon for this. The LED modification was a great improvement over the classic type bi-pin lamp that it comes with. The bi-pin lamp by standard for a flashlight was of terrific performance to begin with. There is a focus adjustment that allows to make the illumination in to a very tight bright beam, or to allow it to be more of a flood. I leave it in the sharpest possible beam. The ambient light spill to the sides of the beam alone is strong enough to nicely light up the room. The modified LED focused bream can light light up a reasonable size area from over five hundred feet away with no problem. As for this Mag 6 D Cell flashlight, it is of super deluxe quality as like Mag flashlights are expected to be. With the LED modification that I used this flashlight should be able to operate for at least 80 hours or more. It is so bright that it is impossible to look in to the front of it while turned on. It can cause temporary blindness and eyesore for a while. This is great for protection in case of an intruder. If the light beam does not blind the intruder than nothing will!!! Because of the tight beam focusing of the LED light, I measured at 1 Meter with a LUX meter just under 42,000 Lumens. This is extremely bright! I also have a few of the Mag 2AA, 4D, and few of the 3D, all with the LED modification. They are all terrific flashlights. I would strongly recommend this flashlight if you want a sort of long flashlight with a very heavy feel to it. With the D type Alkaline batteries installed it must weigh at least 6 lbs. I love it! It is a great product. This type of flashlight is a novelty to own and use! It is my favorite flashlight among the others that I own. Just to mention... I did the 3 Watt LED modification which made a huge difference from the original incandescent lamp. I did not go with a stronger LED because I wanted the increased battery life. Even with the 3 Watt LED avoid looking directly in to the light beam. It can cause temporary blindness. There is some speculation that at close range any of these LED flashlights may cause some eye damage if stared in to. If you have an intruder, simply shining the light in to their eyes will blind them enough for you to get our of the area, or take charge of them.
