It slow my dog down from eating so fast. I'm happy with it ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amazon's best value, dishwasher safe, stackable, non-slip feet, and effective on the right breed (see caveat) *by D***N on Reviewed in the United States on November 1, 2016* You have to buy these based on a fit with the way your dog's face is made. My first Amazon purchase was too big a bowl, and even so the channels that held food in were too restrictive (too narrow, too deep).Caveat: Experientially this bowl's depth and size restrictions fit my Yorkies. I would hazard a guess that, if it will serve Yorkies, that it will also work for Dachshunds, Chihuahuas, and small to medium terriers. Based on dogs I've owned IMHO this would not work for Lhasa Apso, Shih Tzu, and other wide or flat faced dogs like the pug, or boxer; and a beagle I had once would eat this dish right after the meal.The wrong-sized dog may toss or otherwise manipulate this dish depending on their hunger and disposition. One of my two Yorkies took one look at this dish and backed away as if to say "are you nuts?" She can see animals on TV, she loves the Meerkats, so she experiences the visual world differently than her male counterpart here who wonders what she's barking at since he sees nothing on a TV? In contrast she recognizes dogs from cats, horses, etc. She may have seen in this dish a dark open mouth with big teeth holding her food, it was like she was afraid? I fed her a third of her meal piece by piece from it, then I took her and the dish to a bedroom where atop the bed she had the time, without peer pressure or anything else to think about and she finished it, so I hope we're over the first time hurdle; a different paradigm for her experience. So, I didn't see how it slowed her, but before we went away I saw the other dish (same type) was effectively slowing her male counterpart.At one time they could have food left out for them, they wouldn't over-eat and had good weight control, but this last year they turned voracious and could intake a full meal in under a minute non-stop, they were done well before they were satiated which left them pacing around wanting more, and eating that fast was bad for them, especially her.I also had to find (and found) a way to slow her water intake; she was ingesting it so fast she was slinging some down her trachea (a major health risk). I used this same obstacle principal, only my obstacles in the water dish were tumbled agates and obsidian making it harder for her tongue to go deep and sling as much as she normally could. I had made it like drinking out of a stream-bed using a recycle pump and charcoal-filtered water dish also obtained from Amazon. Caution: do NOT buy smooth shiny rocks from a plant/flower nursery, those owe their shiny coat to polyethylene or varnish which will come off and be toxic. I hunted down my rocks (cryptocrystalline-metamorphic) from a rock-hound who had his own tumbler; I sterilized those before using.Anyway these bowls were among the least expensive in Amazon, but they were only available by ADD-ON purchase, which means you need to combine it with other Amazon purchases.Tip: If you also need to slow your dog, and don't want them frustrated, teased, flipping dishes, etc. read the reviews and see what breeds the various owners have said works or does not work. For the limited number of breeds I could comment on, I've given you that here.
