The book was an interesting read and definitely shed some light on certain topics I had not researched. The reason I only gave the book four stars was because of the fact that, as other buyers have stated, the last twenty or so pages of the book are a list of PA programs and then just blank pages. I am not sure why the author felt it was necessary to do this but I think elaborating on the other topics would have been more useful. Other than that, the book was definitely worth purchasing even if you have done your research about the application process. There is always something to be learned.

How to get into PA school. A good reference.
It's the right book. It was new. It was shipped quickly. That's all I ask. That being said, I followed much of the advice in this book as I applied to 13 PA schools recently. I have been offered 8 interviews, two rejections, and still waiting to hear from three schools.Bottom line, have a good personality, be yourself during the interview and saturate your application with the four following things:1) Patient contact hours2) a high Grade Point Average (at least for your science and math prerequisites)3) volunteer hours (doesn't have to be medical)4) shadowing experience (just ask any PA if you can shadow them, even if you don't know each other. I met my first two shadowed PA's online and their referrals led me to three more shadowing sessions.)

This was very helpful in preparing me for my school ...
This was very helpful in preparing me for my school interviews. I felt that I would have not done so well without it. Matter a fact after my interviews I was contacted within two days to state that I had been accepted to the program. I was invited to three schools, interviewed at two accepted to both, and declined my third interview. I also used how to ace the physician assistant interview.

Excellent step-by-step guide for applying to PA school
I bought this book after the bulk of my application had already been completed, and I was only looking for help with my interview that is coming up. But the book would have been very helpful in composing my initial essays. The interview section is comprised of 3 chapters, and it effectively communicates the most important aspects of the interview process. It even has sample questions, and what the interviewer is actually trying to get to know about you by asking the particular question. It has information on financial aid, where to find prospective PA student forums online, and descriptions of many types of PA practice. I highly recommend this book! It's such a small price to pay for a lot of knowledge, and knowledge gives you confidence :)

Getting into PA school
I liked this book because it was very insightful. It gives you a step by step guide as to what you need to do to prepare yourself for getting into the PA school of your choice. In addition there is a section of what admission committees are looking for in an applicant. It also helps you with setting goals and managing your time. The sample essays at the end of the book were also very helpful in writing my own personal statement. I would recommend this book to anyone applying to PA school.

Great comprehensive book
Great comprehensive book, but I felt most of the content I had already learned from google, forums, my college advisor etc. There were a few tips in the book that I didn't previously know. but overall anyone approaching the application stage probably won't benefit much from this book. I would recommend for high schoolers who have expressed interest in the field.

I bought three books to help me navigate the application process, and this was by far the best. It accurately describes what to expect in most of your interviews, but most importantly, gives insight to what interviewers are looking for when they ask certain questions. Also has great tips for writing essays (both for supplemental apps and for CASPA). The list of schools in the back needs to be updated-- would be nice if they also listed which schools only have provisional status. Overall a great book and very helpful.

Useful
I read it all, modified my answers to each school and what fit best for me and I was able to be accepted the first time I applied
