If Animals Kissed Good Night

I bought this book on a whim because I thought it looked cute, and what a trophy I got! It is a board book, so I was honestly expecting it to be an extremely quick read with only a few pages, but boy was I wrong! This is actually a great children’s book length and makes an excellent bedtime story. There were so many animals in it, which my son loved, and it portrayed how each animal would kiss their child goodnight so creatively. And the artwork is beautiful. A lot of children’s books have bright and bold colors and dark outlines. This one is a very lovely contrast, with calm and serene coloring that all blends together with the words on the page. It is a book that you could read to a child of various ages. My son is only 6months old and he loves to reach and touch the pictures, and giggles madly when we act out some of the “kisses”. My niece is 8 years old and she loves reading and looking at this book too. I am extremely pleased with my choice and purchase. I’ll have to see what else this author has to offer!

This book is just so sweet and heartwarming! I love how it imagines all the different ways animals say goodnight to each other. The illustrations are absolutely gorgeous and really bring the whole sleepy world to life. It's the perfect bedtime story to help little ones wind down. Seriously, a must-have for any nursery bookshelf!

My son absolutely loves this book

Update: My daughter is 18 months old and I can hold her attention longer and she likes this book. I also got used to reading this book to her at night. It is still long and I fall asleep as I'm reading it to her but she likes to point out the animals and hear the animal sounds. Old review: My one year old loves to read books but she did not like this book. I'd lose her attention not even half way into the book. It's long and the story is not interesting to her or to me either. I agree with another reviewer that the writing is not great. There are some words such as splashity splishes and whiskery swishes are tongue twisters and I would never really use when talking to my baby. The illustrations are beautiful and my daughter can learn baby animal names, which is why I still gave it 3 stars.

I bought the board book as a new baby gift. Perfect for when the little one starts to look at books; he will be unable to tear the pages out, as our youngest grandson has done several times to books with paper pages. It’s a very cute story too. I recommend this book in any format purchased.

My 23-month old son and I love this book. I can't believe some people are uncomfortable with animals smooching. Did they not notice the title? It has lovely colorful illustrations and many different animals. The concept is so sweet and the gentle rhymes make it a great before bed or nap book but the fun tongue-twisty parts make it fun anytime. I expect to get many more months of cuddly readings out of this book. Who do I think would love this book? - Kiddos 18-30 months, it is a little longer than other board books and some basic knowledge of animals makes this book more fun - Kiddos that are into animals - People that can keep their minds out of the gutter long enough to read a book for toddlers Who do I think would not be into this book? - Kiddos that aren't that into animals - Kiddos with pretty short attention spans. No judgement, maybe your they are too young or just not ready for a 4-5 minute read. Kids all develop differently. - People who aren't into silly books. Again, no judgement, maybe you like to read other kinds of books with more defined plots or more action. Reading is reading, good on you for doing it. - People who think animals kissing good night in ways that make sense for their anatomy is sexual. Sloths would kiss slowly. Snakes would wiggle around when they kiss. Walruses would rub their whiskers together if they kissed. Calm down. If you or your kiddo isn't into a book, that is fine but it makes me so sad to hear about people throwing this book in the trash because their own personal hang-ups. For Pete's sake, donate it!

This is both my toddlers fave book. I love reading it too.

A lively story that named the animals and the proper names of their babies, all in s sweet little tale. The repetition helps to lull the little one to sleep. Also love that the parent animals are sometimes mammas and sometime papas giving the good night kisses.

This book is very well made and has the sweetest little story. The pictures are very well drawn and colored and my little granddaughter loves it.

The book has a lovely history ideal for bedtime. Cute drawings and fun rimes (a bit hard to read when you are just as sleepy as your kid). My kid really connected to the history from the first time I read it to him. Also, it brings lots of animals to learn.

An all-time favorite bedtime story. The rhymes are so cute. I think I liked it even more than the kids :)
