I waited a few weeks after the Petchatz HDX cam arrived to write this review so I could feel totally confident in saying... this is the best thing I've ever spent money on in my life. To say I'm extremely attached to my cockapoo Teddy is kind of an understatement. We recently had a rash of break-ins in our neighborhood and several "false alarms" at our house soon after. I was so worried that if something happened I'd not be able to know if Teddy was ok. Petchatz allows me to "call" him throughout the day and SEE HIM, HEAR HIM, TALK TO HIM, AND GIVE HIM TREATS!!!!! You can even just check on your pet without them even knowing. Sometimes if he's napping I'll just let him be. I actually get choked up at how amazing this is and what peace of mind it gives me to know my baby is safe and happy. Teddy learned how to come to the "phone" in about 20 minutes and comes over every single time I call him. He totally loves the grain free chicken treats, and I'm certainly happy with the high quality ingredients. He usually gets diarrhea from random treats and these didn't cause any issues at all!! Maybe TMI, lol, but I feel it's important to note. My camera actually came with a bag included so that was a plus! The camera has perfect resolution and the videos are flawless. The view screen for Teddy is the perfect size. I can see him looking directly at me as we talk (I know!!! Can you believe it???) I do have good internet service with 10 to 11 upload speed (that I made sure of for my security cameras) and I know that certainly helps. It's important to me and I definitely made it a priority. Petchatz actually even set up a personal welcome phone call with me to get my feedback and ensure all was going great. This level of customer service goes above and beyond any expectation I had dreamed of. The representative, Wendy, was genuine and I could tell she was truly interested in Teddy and making sure he was liking everything. It's heartwarming in today's world to feel like you really matter as a consumer. The overall experience makes the unit worth every last cent. The best thing I've ever spent money on in my life. So I purchased this item back in February in anticipation of moving out of my current residence in June. It was my one “gift to myself” that I used my 2019 tax money to buy for myself and my dog. This item was pretty expensive but had decent reviews and it was exactly what I was looking for in a pet camera: one that could do two way video and audio. I didn’t even consider the product may not work or be broken. Stupid me. Yesterday I finally opened the package and set it up. Out of the box it worked fine, got it set up and mounted and it was working fine initially. Yesterday was going to be the first night I was venturing out to some friends house during this covid crap and I was excited to be able to do so and still keep an eye on my dog at the same time. Low and behold I get to where I’m going, I use my phone app to check in on my dog with PetChatz and it tells me the unit is offline!!! I was so mad! I spent all that time setting it up for last night and somehow it’s offline and I wasn’t able to communicate with my dog all night. So this morning I get up and I figure I will toggle what the issue is, couldn’t be much because it’s brand new! Maybe just an unplug and replug or a shut on and off would fix it. Nope. Completely blank screen. It won’t do anything. And I have no idea what to do now as my return window on amazon for this item closed on March 17th, and I cannot find a link to where I can contact the manufacturer. So now I’m stuck with a $300 item that is completely useless to me and I’m extremely upset. This product would have been perfect for my needs if it actually worked!!! I will change this review to a more positive one if someone reaches out to me and attempts to make this right.

Overall it's a nice product, a clear image with wide-angle. I hope the product can be improved on two things though, 1) add night mode, 2) support the cell phone model I have (ASUS Zenphone - Android version.) My kitty only came by one time and seemed not to understand where the voice from. But I feel more secure to be able to talk to her and distributed the treat while traveling. I don't know how much a pet understands using this to communicate with the owner but it brings you peace of mind.

This is so much more than a camera that you can see your pets with and give a treat. I am so pleased with my purchase. My dogs can call me and I can call them. We set up certain times of the day that they can call me but I can call them anytime. When they hear their "phone" ringing they come running. I also got the PawCalls, and set up the play time for them. They can press the PawCalls when they here the tone or see it blink for a treat. There are so many cool features, Silent Watch, PetWatch, DogTV, PawCalls. They have best customer service ever!! My terrier caught on to the PawCalls in about 3 minutes and it took the girls about 5 minutes. It makes me feel good that I can talk to them and see their little tails wagging when I can't be right their with them. I initially had it installed on a dog crate, but then found that PetChatz also makes a stand for it. This allows you to move it easily. Keep up the good work PetChatz.

In theory, this is an amazing product. I was really hoping it would be amazing. Our dog is undergoing heartworm treatment and I wanted this device to monitor him while I was at work. He is crate trained and I didn’t want to stress him out by moving his crate. The device worked well for about the first week, but then it got disconnected from WiFi. The main issue with this device is that it needs to be in very close proximity to your internet router. Once it disconnects. You have to remove the router from wherever you installed it and bring it near the internet to reconnect. Unfortunately, we had to return ours because it would not function where we needed it. When a new device with better connectivity is available, I will definitely buy. I loved video chatting with my dog, DogTV, and giving my dog treats. :)

I bought this for my 4 month old puppy and it works as advertised. Clear picture and audio and treat dispenser works great. However.... The HDX version is new. According to the company, it was released in late 2019 so my unit had some issues maintaining connectivity with my wifi which resulted in the need to hard-reset the device periodically. Customer service worked with me and I cannot say enough about how wonderful the experience was. Customer Services gets A++++ rating for sure. They are helping to resolve the issue. (In the interim, I bought a cheap $9 HOMNI wifi outlet that I can control remotely so if the system ever freezes, I can reset power at the outlet and the PetChatz will reboot and operate just fine.) My dog isn't the only one with separation anxiety; us "pawrentals" do to. So it's really nice to be able to check in on the furbaby while we are out and about. It ain't cheap, but for peace of mind and the ability to have contact with your special family member, we felt it was worth the price. And, NO, you do not need to buy the additional mounting case unless you are concerned that your larger dogs may want to rip it out of the wall. We have ours velcro'd to the wall of his kennel with heavy duty velco strips and it is secure...even when my dog tries to climb all over it trying to find us behind the device when he's confused at seeing us on the video monitor. I have already recommended this device to several friends because it simply works. If you are on the fence about buying one, DO IT! You won't be disappointed. I was so excited about this after watching videos on how it works. After setting it up and working with my dogs to show them-it kept going to the message “offline” while my wifi was working fine. I decided to give it some more time because I really was hoping to use this while I’m out of the house. On multiple occasions I signed on and could see my face but the dog side was a black screen. I could hear the treats drop but could not see my dogs. I don’t know if I got a bad unit or if these issues are typical.

We couldn’t get it to work. Wendy from PetChatz reached out to me. We will try it again and will update my review. If anything Wendy has shown great customer service. I’ll update after we get it running.
