So many of these ideas and practices seem so innocuous, and it is my opinion that most Christians have no clue as to what they are actually dabbling in when they participate in or sanction participation of these things. Forewarned is forearmed, and Caryl Matrisciana warns from the posture of experience, having been raised in the land of mid-eastern mysticism, and having lived in it's grip as well. I found the book both riveting and revolting, compelling and compassionate. But most of all I found it to be unforgettable. Everyone I've either bought a copy for or loaned my copy to has, in turn, bought more copies for others. For all who deem themselves to be a follower of Christ, i.e., a Christian: this is a must-read. The majority of the book is a well written auto biography of the authors life, from growing up in India to living in America, a documentation of how she came to Christ. The final two chapters are more technical explanation of Hinduism / new age / and the effect on the church. The author paints powerful pictures of Indian culture from a kids perspective and a as an adult Christian living there finding out the meaning of Hindu religion. The author contrasts the Hindu religion with new age thinking, having experienced both. Finally she shows how this thought has infiltrated the church. The book shows great discernment and is a must read for any Christian dabbling in yoga or who wants to know the roots of how new age thought has creeped into Christianity. highly recommended

Excellent real-life story-explains Hinduism and New Age from a unique perspective
This is an amazing real-life story and she explains Hinduism and New Age from a perspective that is priceless. You will be encouraged and educated. This is a wonderful testimony and a very enjoyable read.

Spiritual side of Yoga
If you ever had any doubts about the spiritual side of Yoga, read this! When people say to me “But I love the breathing exercises”, I now reply, “But did you know those ‘calming’ breathing exercises are preparing you for death”! Not so nice now eh? A MUST READ if you want the truth! “The truth will set you free” do you want freedom or captivity?

What a great story! This book really takes one into the life and ancient customs of India in depth. I was amazed at how we - in the West take what is presented to us from the East as what seems to be the greatest insight there is - especially when it comes to wisdom. A great book!

This was one of my favorite books & so hard to put down
This was one of my favorite books & so hard to put down! "Out of India" is a fascinating testimony that is bound to give the reader discernment of how the New Age religion has infiltrated many aspects of the American Culture. Not many people truly consider the spiritual implications of activities such as Yoga, Meditation, etc...so this will be a real eye opener!

Warning against Deception Creeping into The Church
The book gives a lot of information about the danger of falling into practices of Yoga, New Age and other alternatives to True Christ centered belief. It was very informative and I found it helpful, even though there was quite a bit of detail on Caryl's life before she came to know Jesus Christ. I couldn't relate to lots of her previous life. It does give insight into how deception can happen. I see now how Yoga and Hindu practices have close connection to the evil religion in the Promised Land which God forbid for the children of Israel.

An interesting read.
One of the more interesting books I've ever read. Her first hand experience lends credibility to her statements and she's lived quite a life. Well written and engaging.

Much needed
A must of you want to understand the deceptions of the last days. I leant this to a lady in my road and she became a Christian not long after.
