Malone MicroSport Trailer Retractable Tongue Kit

Works EXACTLY as described, and shortens the trailer by a good amount for easy storage. The instructions were simple to follow and the modifications to the trailer wiring harness were minimal and easy to do.

Great kit for making the trailer more compact. I bought my Microsport (non-XT) trailer used and this was a great upgrade. Combined it with the Trailer Tongue Kick Stand for a very usable setup.

This is a must if you have the Malone trailer. This allows me to shrink my trailer enough that I can stand it up in my garage and park a car in front of it. :-) If you're thinking of getting this when you buy your trailer I would suggest you don't follow the installation instructions for the wiring exactly. I wired mine up so I could pull the trailer with the tongue extended or left shortened. I used the extra wiring harnesses that came with this kit so I could have an extra connection in the front and rear of the trailer. All you'll need to do is to cut, splice and make a few more connections to the wiring as written in the instructions.

Quality product

Does what it’s made for but adds a lot of play, wobble, to the tongue (see the video). It does save space.

Overall product is really neat and when trailer tongue is slid in, trailer is extremely compact. Easy to install, provided all the parts arrive in the box, which mine did not. Package was missing the clip nut and u-shaped spacers. Assembly instructions could have been a little clearer, as well. If all the parts would have been shipped I would have rated 4 stars. *UPDATE* Have used for several years now and can say that this device is a trailer storage lifesaver. I use the trailer as a kayak rack when not in use and without the sliding tongue I would be hard pressed for space in the garage. So far the only negative is the amount of wear/wallowing out of the pin hole due to excessive slack while trailering. Will have to modify down the road.

Easy enough to install and saves so much storage space in the garage. Highly recommended.

Used for hailing a Hobie Pro Angler 14 kayak. Didn't even have to reduce all the way due to the kayak overhang on the front of the trailer. Added about 4' of space to the area behind the trailer allowing it to fit in the garage better. A little right at first sliding the tongue of the trailer. Figured out setting the trailer up on a jack stand right below where this new drop bracket mounts, allows easier sliding of the tongue by yourself.
