## Questions & Answers

**Q: I’m looking to do a 1999 Ford F-350 8’ bed dually crew cab; any estimates on how much I will need for the undercarriage? Can it be rolled or brushed?**
A: One gallon is more than enough for multiple coats. I brushed. Too thick to roll in my opinion

**Q: Is this stuff paintable**
A: Yes. Paintable with a brush, small roller, or spray gun (spray should be thinned w/ xylene). If you spray, wear a respirator in a ventilated area because it's strong stuff. Top within 24 if area will have sun exposure. Read the product label for exact details. That's all I know after using the stuff under my wrangler. It's only been a few months but I still don't see any rust from the salted winter roads and looks good, too. Good luck with it.

**Q: Hello . how to use on truck frame? i have isuzu npr?how much need?**
A: There is 2 ways to apply this paint. First I need to say.....Do Not Get It On You!!!!!! You can spray it or brush it on. The can has the directions on it. I have never sprayed the paint so my guess it would take 2 gal, Brush will be 3+ gal. I use it on everything metal. Only have to remove the heavy scale rust and paint. Did I mention.......Do Not Get It On You!!!!!!. It will take a week or better to get it off you. I painted my 74 Chevy pick-up chassis in 1997 and the paint started to break down 5 yrs ago. I live in Upstate NY. It is a small investment but results are worth it. Also.......Do Not put the lid back on can unless you clean the groove well and use parchment or wax paper between lid and can or you Will Not get the lid off. You will have to puncher a hole and drain can. Heed all directions!!!!!

I hope this helped,
Jim

**Q: How do you prep the frame for paint?**
A: Prepping the frame for chassis saver buy air chipper and it knocks all the rust off is what I found best and that's it you can also use a grinder with a wire brush the paint will stick to rust and turn the rest into hard Steel again it has Inhibitors in it you just want to get the big heavy chunks off

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Product! Industrial strength
*by J***H on August 20, 2025*

Heavy Duty Coating. Coated my rusty floors twice. Has a high gloss finish. Very sticky. If you get it on your hands it has to wear off with time.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amazing stuff, let’s see how it holds up.
*by M***S on November 18, 2017*

Did not like being rolled on, did not try to spray as its rather nasty stuff chemically and aerosolizing it seemed like something you do when you must vs to the bottom of a service body as part of a bed swap.Brushing worked the best.Should have read a little more before purchase, because the aluminum version is not just color or metallic paint but literally contains 2Lb of aluminum powder per gallon, which helps fill small pits etc. and would have been my base coat on the top side of the bed. I’ve ordered some to use as the base coat for the frame of the truck the service body will sit on, but know I will have to brush it on or use a large orifice in my sprayer because of the Aluminum powder.I am very satisfied with the gloss black. It’s almost ceramic hard once it’s dry, but you have to use a brush and have to keep the applied material in very thin coats. Globbing this stuff on will only cause micro bubbles as it cures which can allow air and moisture in and they don’t sand out well. I used 3 coats and then top coated because I got some runs and globs in a few corners and behind hangers, etc. I figure that if 2 coats in minimum then 3 is better and will fill in any little micro bubbles and while I used as an undercoating to my service body, a top coat of gloss black oil base enamel couldn’t hurt. You won’t need any thinner unless you want to spray it and you must use xylene or their brand of thinner not lawyer or paint thinner. Also a RESPIRATOR!!!!! This will not give you cancer if you expose yourself to a toxic amount of vapors. It will kill you or give you brain damage rather quickly. Paint with brush in well ventilated area (outside with a breeze) or use a damn respirator. NOT A DUST MASK, Must be respirator good for organic vapor.Once you’ve opened your can and are done for the day, putting a light float of xylene in the can before you close it will keep it from skinning over and you just mix in before you use next time. Do not mix in immediately or you defeat the purpose of the float. Also use plastic wrap/bag/something between the paint can lid and paint can if you spliiled any in the little groove of the can. It will weld lid to can otherwise. This stuff does not sand easily. It does scuff easily for multiple coats, but you won’t want to try to feather it or bring back to bare metal once cured. TRUST ME ON THIS.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ If rust isn't your color of choice!
*by G***D on March 30, 2020*

Great stuff for rusty metal. We use on our dump trailers that have many miles and years on them. But you will need to coat with a top coat of some kind. POR15 or industrial/farm implement paint, many different brands available. TSC sells some at good prices. That's if you want deep black finish to last. Over time, the sunlight fades Chassis Saver to a gray color. Still holds up nice, but sun fade. Tried painting inside of dump, but that was a waste of time and money. Shingles just ripped paint right off when dumped. Exterior looks great still and rust free. We rolled on and used brushes for tight spots. Thought about spraying, but you lose paint from overspray, plus it would need thinning to pass through a gun. So two thumbs up on this paint! Update 08-31-20 Well 3/4 of the way through our busy season with roofing and no signs of rust to date. We have newer trailers we purchased after painting a couple of trailers with Chassis Saver, and the new trailers have more rust than the painted trailers. Chassis Saver with topcoat applied trailers are holding up superbly! Not as shiny as the new trailers, but no rust either!! Really is a good quality paint for rusted metal. Two thumbs up on Chassis Saver.👍👍
