You need to mix it with developer. Note, this color is intended for professional use. Developer is basically Hydrogen Peroxide that is mixed with the color in order to "activate" it. It comes in cream or liquid form, different levels (10, 20, 30 and 40 Volume) depending on what your goal is. If you're unfamiliar with all of this, perhaps drug store brands would be easier. You get everything you need in one box with instructions, all intended for use by the general public. Developer is not expensive, it comes in many sizes, a 4 oz bottle is around $2.50 at Sally's Beauty. You do not need to use the same brand developer as the color.

What is the differnce between 7N and 7NN?

N means Neutral—neither warm nor cool. NN shades are for resistant gray/white hair, they contain extra pigment for stubborn coarse hair. NN shades contain more dye molecules so they give more depth to your final hair color result.

Do the color numbers correlate with traditional chemical dyes? i use 7.1 (ash blonde) l'oreal majirel. so is 7n the closest in color?
