Once my daughter's teeth came in and her bite got stronger, she has bit threw a few of the tops. Not a deal breaker, and honestly, she's been using them for a year and a half. I would recommend these trainer cups to anyone and have found them to be the cup that we go back to over and over. Actually, the locking mechanism simply locks the lid onto the base, which prevents leaking under the cap. But if it tips over in your bag, it might eventually leak through the sippy spout. I find these well made and sturdier than the previous generation of Munchkin sippy cups that were in stores a year ago. I like the stiffer spout. (My first daughter chewed through the spouts on her old munchkin sippy cups).
