Forever Across The Marsh Review: Great read! - This book appeared on my feed, and having lived near the marshes along the St. Mary’s River, in south GA, the cover art grabbed my attention. I read a couple reviews and thought it would be a nice read. I decided to purchase the book hoping it would be good enough to pass along. And it certainly is! Mr Pearson is a gifted storyteller—I knew every character, smelled the marsh, and felt every bite of those insects from hell, the pesky ‘no-see-ums’ (too bad they made it on the Ark). I chuckled, snickered, laughed, and cried. Read this book, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised. I can’t wait to read the ‘sequel’. Review: Good book - As I started reading this book, I was getting confused. As I read more and I begin to understand. I was in tears as I neared the end.

As I started reading this book, I was getting confused. As I read more and I begin to understand. I was in tears as I neared the end.

Was it suppose to be funny?
Mel is a guy who makes bad decisions and finds himself acting like an idiot. However he makes a good choice in wife, friends, and family commitment. Easy to read with some good stories antics but the plot does not really hold together. Love that it’s based in Savannah’s and the marsh.

This is a book that many people can identify with for many different reasons.
I have been doing a lot of genealogy research the past couple of years in Savannah. My grandmother was born and raised in Savannah, but left after marriage to my grandfather. I was in a bookstore last summer when I saw this book. I picked it up and was intrigued by the back cover. I had already planned to buy some others, so I put it down. Amazon knew what my preferences were and recommended I read this book during the Covid time🤨 I thought, well, maybe it is meant for me to read this book!! As I read Forever Across the Marsh, I laughed, I cried and I began to love and identify with the characters. As an elementary teacher for 28 years and still going, I recognized the bully and his disfunctional household. I’ve taught kids like him and dealt with mean parents who would beat their children over any little thing. There are so many things I loved about this book and so many themes that speak to me. I even picked out chapters I can read to my school kids. I look forward to reading it again!!!! I also look forward to reading more books by Jeff Pearson.

A regular story until it blooms into something more
A story about tides and fishing and ordinary people that takes an unexpected turn into life's mystery. Swamp rat families, living, fishing, struggling to survive in swampy Georgia. A cache of pirate gold from ages past and the men who live by fishing all tied up in the struggle to just survive, haunted by the old myth of golden coins and ancient pirate lore. A well-written tale of survival and hope . A man who suddenly faces his own end and seeks to leave a legacy for his family. I started this book because of my interest in the mysteries surrounding old pirate lore and the struggle to support a family on fishing became something more. Well done.

Amazing story rich in coastal Georgia culture
When many think of the state of Georgia, they think of the Atlanta metropolitan area, the University of Georgia in Athens, and perhaps the rich beauty and majestic live oaks of historic Savannah. Very few realize Georgia has over one hundred miles of coastline, fourteen barrier islands, and thousands of miles of tidal shoreline. Jeff Pearson's book invites readers to appreciate the beauty of the water while recognizing the many dangers that seemingly await its visitors. Jeff injects witty humor into antidotal examples of life's challenges and reminds his readers the value of one's family. Some of the characters used in the book appear cast straight out of Savannah's central casting, and Jeff brings those personalities to life in a way which will resonate with locals without losing non-Savannahians. Forever Across The Marsh was my first book read for leisure in more than five years. I found myself captivated to the storyline and could not put the book down. I would give it more than five stars if possible! Can't wait for this author's next book.

Very odd
I don't usually write reviews, but I felt I needed to this time because so many people thought this was such a great book. I didn't, but that's my opinion. I kept trying to figure out what the point of the story was. There were parts where I thought things were supposed to be funny and then there would be some tragedy. Those 2 moods did not mesh together in the story; they just made it a jumbled up story. The main character goes into anaphylactic shock from no-see-ums and is unconscious for 2 days. Huh?
