Update: so after using the mute nasal dilator for over almost 2 months now, I have some issues with it. You know how when you constantly rub something, it starts to form a type of callus? Well that’s happening inside my right nostril. It’s becoming so bad that now the right nostril is clogged during the day. So now I’m using two different types of dilators one for one week, the mute for the next week, then back to the other for a week, etc and so on. So nothing is perfect but I cannot use cpap any longer. It causes me less sleep and more problems than it solves. Im kind of stuck? Not sure what to do now, but just wanted to put this out there. No dilator is great at this stage. Don’t like the nasal strips because they do not stay on and don’t open my nose enough. So there’s my update! So this is an honest review. I’m not paid, I’m not getting any compensation; I’m just hoping to help someone else. I bought the trial pack for Mute and quickly figured out that the medium was for me. I wore it a while and I’ll be honest (again!) I felt like it bothered me. UNTIL I tried another brand of nasal dilator and oh my word! I wore the other brand for a week just to give it a fair shot and had blisters in my nose that scabbed over during the daytime. I went back to Mute and it was heaven compared to the other brand. Now having said that: the Mute dilator is not completely comfortable to where you don’t know it’s there BUT it does not cause bleeding or sores and weirdly enough when I went back to it? It seemed to work far better than the other brand that claimed to open passages “58% more.” So the night I went back to Mute? I slept 8 hrs 26 mins and woke up feeling great. The week prior with the other brand? I barely slept 5 without ripping the thing out and having a blocked left nasal passage for the rest of the night. So! That’s my honest review. In total I have tried 5 different nasal dilators and out of all of them? I’m sticking with the Mute medium nasal dilator. It’s a pain to put in, it’s a pain to get where your nose wants it to be, BUT it’s the only one so far that I’ve found that keeps my nasal passages open and lets me sleep without a clogged left nasal passage without pain and bleeding. I’ve had sinus surgery and it made things worse after so that’s not an option. The only thing I wish is that they made a variety of each size; such as extra small, small, larger small, small medium, medium, larger medium etc and so on. That way those clips wouldn’t be on there and it would be more comfortable. Hope this helps someone!

Follow up on my previous review. After ordering the trial pack and trying the small out which worked very well, I order 2 boxes of small. When I opened the first box the small size was NOT what I tried in the first box (which I still have and the med and large are both there). This new smaller version works for a small child. They won’t stay in your nose a night and cover about 1/2 your nostril. No problem I will return the box I have unopened and get the medium. WRONG. I cannot return this item! So now I have wasted $40plus dollars on a child size nasal dial at or that I cannot use. BEWARE. It was a bait and switch for me and a Waste of money. Amazon should let the buyer know when an unopened box of worthless product cannot be returned! I was told my very loud snoring was out of control. I put a snore app on my phone and found I was breathing out of my mouth. My nasal passages were swollen and nearly closed due to a deviated septum. So decided to give this a try. I CANNOT BELIEVE the difference in air flow!!! I bought the trial and started with the small. It was tight and rigid. My nose immediately started to bleed. After running hot water over the device to make it soft I was able to get it in my nose without feeling scratched up. I find the routine of warm water before inserting is much more comfortable. No bleeding or scratching. In the morning after I remove it I take a qtip with a bit of Vaseline on it and run it around my nostrils. My app had me Azeri snoring for 3 nights and now light snoring as the device does swish when I lay on my side. But MUCH better than I was before Also I wake up so refreshed! I used to literally feel like I had a hang over and was using an oxygen can to feel more awake in the mornings. I will definitely keep using this product!

Works well, have used them every night for over a year. One problem is that they aren't great if you have really uneven nostrils from a deviated septum. One side is not big enough on the highest setting but the other side is too big on the lowest setting and digs into the septum. It really hurts but can be mitigated by placing it carefully at the best least painful position. This is fine and I can deal with it as I haven't found a better alternative. The reason for the 3 stars is just the price. I would pay a max of $15 without complaint but I think we are all tired of things being expensive (for what they are) for the sake of being expensive. It works but 3 pieces of tiny plastic shouldn't be $20.

Used on and off for a year now and they do open up your nose and improve air flow. I have a deviated septum and small nasal passages and these were recommended by a sleep specialist. There's an adjustment period at the beginning. They feel weird and finding the right size and adjusting the rings takes some time. My nose is sensitive so at first I had to be careful not to bump the center piece while I was sleeping or I would wake up. I would find myself waking up and having to take them out halfway through the night. As I have gotten used to them it's not really an issue anymore. I found a medium fits best but is slightly too big. The small just doesn't open my nostrils up enough. I've decided to go ahead with the surgery so I hope that I don't need them anymore.

My ENT recommended this to me because I can rarely breathe due to my nostril passages being closed/slim. Those nose/tape strips dont work, and many times, I would have to use my thumb and index finger to widen my nostril openings. However, with these Mute devices, they now do that job. Since then, I now get about a 90-95% clear airway and breathing is easy now. It does work. There is a tiny amount of discomfort, but you get use to it. Things to keep in mind: 1. The size you order makes a big difference. I took a chance at medium and it was perfect. I did not even have to adjust the size. Just shoved it in my nose, and moved/shifted it around to get a good fit. I am not even sure if I shove it too far deep inside my nose. 2. Your nostrils will puff out a little when you insert these. 3. No need to worry about them falling out or even swallowing them was sleeping. They stay tight inside your nose. 4. This product does not permanently fix your breathing problem. It's just a temp fix to widen your nostril openings. If you have sinus issues such as internal inflamation..etc, this dialator really won't help. That's a medical condition that you need to address with a doctor. I only use this dialtor to widen my nostrils to breathe easier - mainly at night. Overall, a decent products that provides comfort to breathing better. 11/29/23: Update: This product still works great. I am still using the same piece since day 1. The other two are still in the package. You can keep using the same one, whereas they don't really wear out. Just make sure to rinse them with water after each use. Sometime next year, I will throw out the current one I am using, and use a new one from the existing pak. No issues at all with this product.

It definately opens up the airway. After a few hours, the inside of my nose becomes irritated and I have to remove it. I started with the smallest size, so I can't size down for less irritation.

Bought this 3/15/24. The medium definitely fit best. I was able to snip the circles of the large one so I could use it too. Slightly less effective, but still effective and worthwhile. I thought about snipping the small one's in half to use, but I worry about breathing them in. Still thinking about using them some other way. I ordered the Medium pack on 5/9/24 and have lost/misplaced the previous ones and 2 of these as well and so here I am again ordering my 3rd 3-pack today. MUTE is the best so far of the 4 different types of nasal dilators I have tried and for which I gave it 5 stars relative to the others, especially considering they are not custom-made for my nose. Just solely based on their effectiveness for me, I would probably give them a 4.4. I tried both barrel types ("8 Pack Nose Vents Anti Snoring Devices") Both worked pretty decent, but the clear ones irritate my nose more. I can only wear them 2-3 nights in a row. Can't beat the price of $8 though even considering only 2 sizes of each fit my nose. But being thrifty, in this case I did cut the small pair in half which is necessary to go further back in my nose so they work. Being expanded barrels/cylinders, they won’t get sucked in. Again, not as effective, but definitely worthwhile when you lose them all the time. This package included: -4 various size white, solid, soft silicone ones and -4 various size clear medium silicone ones. I also tried the Air Max mediums (2 pack). They seemed to be just as effective as the Mute's, but I could only wear them 1 night at a time before they became very uncomfortable for me. Lost one of the 2 pairs these too so far. I have no idea how I can lose so many of these. There is the bed, the nightstand and the sink where I wash them, but never leave them. Do they stick to the sheets and then get lost in the washer? I don't know. Anybody else lose so many of these?

I have tried all of them. Most of the internal nasal dilators collapse under the weight of my nasal walls, the material is so flimsy. Some pop out in the middle of the night or even shortly after insertion. I have very small nasal passages and suffer environmental allergies. I am extremely allergic to dust but am a lazy housekeeper, too lazy to vacuum all the time. I always had to sleep on 2 or 3 pillows which I swear over the years gave me arthritis in the neck. I have been dissapointed in most of the dilators primarily because the manufacturers are so afraid to make them out of a firm material. In my opinion I would rather breathe than worry about a little discomfort. But thats just me. I loved a discontinued product called the "nosewide" It was 2 round LARGE tubes to insert in each nostril joined together at the bottom. It was made of a very firm and thin material, I guess like plastic but it was so thin it hardly took up any space in the nostrils. It did what its name said-nose wide. I ordered from Amazon some similar items that looked like nose wide but sure enough, they were made of a flimsy silicone material that collapsed under the weight of the nasal wall. My other and most coveted was "sullys nose spreader" which was made of surgical stainless steel wire and was absolutely everything a nasal dilator should be-lightweight, comfortable, and opens your nasal passages, from top to bottom as wide as you want. I loved it so much I sold them for the inventor Robert Sullivan, may he rest in peace. When he passed, his family did not want to continue his legacy. Very sad-he was way ahead of his time and he originally created it for his own use. He used to place straws up his nose to breathe. The humorist Dave Barry even wrote a review about it which was printed in the Washington Post and Chicago Tribune and suggested it as a great Christmas present. Here is his review, always a good laugh! You readers obsessed with this topic will appreciate it. [...] After my last "Sully's" broke over time, I was in the market for a replacement. There was a close second to "Sully's" I believe it was called "Sleep with EZEE " also a wire dilator that is shaped ina a circular zigzag shape. The inventer passed away and apparently they are not available anymore. So I have been using jumbo sized coated paperclips, bent backwards and shaped it like the "Sully's" I put one in each nostril. Yes, lots of air came in, but after I fell asleep they would work its way out and be on the bed when I worke up. But at least I could fall asleep with them in. Last week was placing an order and needed like $15 more to get free shipping, so decided to see what was new in the nasal dilator section. I ordered these in the "try out" pack. I believe they were in my mailbox the next day shipping was that fast! But that wasn't the most important part for me as I have been disappointed in almost all of the dilators I have tried. I had low expectations. As soon as I received the "Mute" sample pack I picked the Large size as I like my nostrils open WIDE as I feel like I am suffocating when I sleep. I am happy to say that it worked extremely well with minimal to no discomfort. Easy insertion and the last 4 nights I have been sleeping with it it never fell out. Now I can sleep with one pillow, instead of 2. With a little adjusting my nostrils stay wide open. The material is firm enough not o collapse under the weight of the nasal walls yet comfortable.And I just found out that the size is adjustable. With the little plastic pin built in -and it is miniscule, I can -and did make it a little wider . I am extremely happy with this product. I have just placed an order for the Rhinomed Turbine, another dilator this same manufacturer makes marketed for athletes.I want to see the difference between the 2. I believe I read that the Turbine is a little firmer than the Mute. To me that means it may last longer than the "Mute" therefore be less expensive over time. Will let you all know my findings.
