Review: Much more than just European birds. - Brilliant addition to the game. I bought it primarily because I live in the UK and it is European birds. However, it is more than just bird cards. There are new actions that make the game more interesting. It makes the game a little harder but still maintains it's laid back feel. The art work and quality of components are superb.
Review: A very worthy purchase - We Really love this game. The pieces are really nice and good quality cards. The board is nicely decorated. For those who love the strategy games like scythe, ticket to ride, Catan, this is same sort of ground. You don't need to be a bird lover but if you are, double bonus! My daughter in law loves playing scythe with us and being a nature and bird lover I thought this would make a nice gift and it went down a treat. A valuable addition to games night!

**Q: What's the difference between the basic and the one with the swift start pack? I see the one with the swift start pack being more cheap than the basic**
A: It is the same as the base version that came before this one. All new versions of Wingspan includes the swift start promo pack that helps teach the game to new players. It is four guides and 10 new bird cards. The guides walk players through four turns, and the 10 new cards can be shuffled into the deck for both learning and non-learning games.

**Q: Could you buy 2 games and combine to add more players?**
A: Yes, but you don't want to! Even with 5 players the game drags a bit. It works best with 1-4 players; you don't want to add more than that. Get two games and set up two tables! Everyone will have more fun that way.

**Q: Should I get the one with the swift starter pack for $59 or the one being released on February 23 for $89 what is the difference?**
A: The $59 version is fine, the $89 is most likely a reseller. You could also go to the Stonemaier Games website and sign up as a Champion (membership) for $15 a year and get 25% off all their games. The price for the membership/Wingspan will end up being the same, but your following purchases will save you more if you like their games and get it through their website.

**Q: I was hoping to learn about birds and instead I feel overwhelmed by game rules.  Does one actually learn about the birds?**
A: that depends on you and where you want to focus.  each card has some info at the bottom, but not loads.  you learn their wingspan and other info like habitat, general diet, and nest type.  not sure if the egg capacity is based 100% on the actual egg laying specs of each bird. 
 the bird illustrations are beautiful.  but it's not as informative as a birding book.  it's a fun, chill strategy game with a birding theme.  the rules can be daunting at first.  i'd recommend watching some youtube videos like rodney from the "watch it played" channel.  also the swift starter pack will help.  but to really learn about birds, get a good field guide.

We Really love this game. The pieces are really nice and good quality cards. The board is nicely decorated. As sure as eggs is eggs this is a game that everyone (14+ years seems high) will enjoy - if they can make keeping birds work towards the variable targets. There are points for lots of different things at the end of a round and at the end of a game. Games can be quick (30mins-hour) or leisurely fun with conversation. This is a great game. It looks nice and friendly and is at that. The mechanic of the game is well crafted to reward careful planning and responding to options that arise. The turn (8 down to 4) cubes keep each round (of four) well policed and allow everyone to keep track of what those around them are up to. Some bonuses depend on what turn options are covered by cubes and how many cubes. Playing some bird cards gains an extra bonus target. Most birds have some ability and when you find a synchronicity between them you make out like a bandit. The cards are standard size for those that like to sleave. I would have liked to see less plastic from such an environment educational game (should be zero rated for customs/VAT for that) The resource storage trays could have been cardboard. I understand the card trays are now egg box card (apt). The eggs could have been wood. Otherwise this is a perfect one (yes solo with automa opposition) to five player game. Grown-up social gaming.
