Great game for those who play solo
Marvel champions is a great solo game. As a former magic the gathering player, i can appreciate the deck building side of champions. This is classified as an LCG which means there is randomness to the product. The cards you need for a full collection is contained in its products guaranteed. The down side of this game is that it comes with a great expense if you want to have every expansion for it. Right now there is about 35 hero expansions that range from $10-$15 each. That being said, the base set of this game is a great value. Inside you get 4 hero decks, Ironman Captain America Ms Marvel and Spiderman. These heroes can be combined with 1 of 4 attribute decks. This alone is enough for hours of play, coupled with 3 villains to fight, each with 2 difficulty settings. Even if you do not plan to buy any expansions, the base set will be good for hours of play time. This would be a great time for kids ages 12 and up as there is a lot of reading and critical thinking. Deckbuilding can be hard, but each character comes with a premade deck.At the time of this review, I own every single expansion for this game with 50 plays. I'm still looking forward to playing more and can highly recommend this game.

Great game, addicting
Really great strategy mechanics and design. The marvel characters you know and love with timeless villains. The only problem is they stopped printing most of the original heroes and now they're almost impossible to find... If you get addicted to the game it can get very expensive to fill out your collection. Kind of difficult, but typically in fair way.

So fun
I never write reviews, but had to for this.We bought this game for our oldest son, a huge Marvel fan. He and our second son have played it a lot, along with their Dad. They asked me to join in. I did and honestly, no offense, but at first I was very lost and bored. Fast forward a few more games and, well, I’m addicted now too.If you’re having trouble learning to play, I would suggest using the same hero deck a couple of times to get a good feel for game play. Black Widow (a separate hero pack) is the deck where things finally clicked in my head and I really started having fun. (Our oldest son controls the villains which helps makes things easy, for me at least. That part seems more difficult to learn.)We have played many, many times now and each game is different. We usually beat the villain. We have lost a few times, but it wouldn’t be as much fun if it weren’t challenging to a certain degree. The strategy necessary and the cooperation between players is what makes it so enjoyable. Not sure how others play, but we allow for table talk. The only downside to this game is that you’ll likely end up wanting all the expansions. We were late to the party, unfortunately, but that hasn’t stopped us from loving it. Highly recommend!

Top-Notch Game
I really like this game. It's super thematic, easy to set up, play, and pack up. It strikes a marvelous balance of being able to just throw a deck together and try it (and it actually works) while also being able to dive in super deep and polish an idea to perfection to hone an incredible deck. The best part is that it's cooperative, so no matter how good or bad you are, all of the players are working together to get things done in the end.I've gotten dozens of plays out of just this core game without any expansions and there are times I'll go back to the basics and just play from cards out of the core box. There are so many ideas I want to try and I can't wait to play them all.The three scenarios in this box are challenging without being impossible with the player cards available and they give you plenty of options to adjust the difficulty. A majority of the player cards are absolutely relevant even with nearly four dozen expansions out there. Almost all of them still see play in the biggest baddest decks possible so they aren't going to start collecting dust as soon as you get the latest expansion.I like this game so much, I waited for the price to come down so I could buy a second copy for multi-group game nights. In short, I'd recommend it.

Awesomely fun game with rules that can trip you up
Love this game. Every character plays differently and has a certain feel to them that mostly works. The villains in this game are tough, but not unbeatable. You are forced to make good decisions each turn or you run the risk of being punished. The multiple aspects also help keep the game fresh as a Spider-Man plays so much differently if you fight one baddie with the Justice aspect then play the exact same game against but with the Aggression aspect. On top of that, you can change-up the villains with different modules (bad events/schemes) each time so you have new challenges to overcome. The rules, however, are the toughest obstacle you must overcome. FFG has revised the rule book five times I believe as of this review and only now settled on what the word "you" means. It's truly not as tough as that statement makes it sound, but you do have to be very precise as you play to ensure the proper events are occurring at the proper time. It doesn't take long to grasp, but as the universe of heroes and villains expands, new keywords and concepts are introduced, which just adds more tripwires to the rules, in my opinion. Because of all this, it's a tough game to teach as well.Note the game is designed to scale based on player count. The game is fun solo, but I think its sweet spot is 2-3 players. You get the superhero team-up feel without the game feeling like it will never end. Four players is doable, but makes the game drag on for too long.If you are a Marvel fan and you love deck builders, this game is awesome. Otherwise, I think you can find better options for your gaming time. But I happen to love Marvel and deck builders, so this game gets a good score from me!

Great entertainment, fun strategy, and awesome replay value
I got this game for my family to play for Christmas. The box is very cool, the hit point counters and cards are well made. All in all, good solid quality.Game setup the first time was a little maddening especially with my 9- and 11-year-old boys waiting to have some fun. Once the game started, we got the hang of it fairly quickly. The game can take a long time to play, so if you are buying for kids, be aware, it may be on your kitchen table for a few days like a game of Monopoly. We are currently playing through the game additional times and the play is very fluid. It forces the family to work together instead of fight over who is winning and what is fair. Each play we seem to learn a little more about the game and exploits so the fact that you can adjust the difficulty and experience each time is nice to keep things fresh. We cannot wait to get home and play this right now. I'm looking forward to the expansion sets as well. This is the first game of this type that we own and definitely the best co-op game we have played. As stated in another review, the setup can be tricky at first, but the cards are labelled and things really make sense once you spend some time with the game.If you are Marvel fan, I highly recommend this game!

Fantastic!
This is a very cool game from the makers of Arkham Horror LCG. You can really see the ten years of progress that have been made between Arkham and Marvel. It's more streamlined, more intuitive, comes in a box that's set up for card organizing (coming in a totally useless box is easily my biggest complaint about the Arkham Horror LCG), and looks great. It's easier to read the cards in this one; tiny, tiny text stuffed onto a card is one of the hallmarks of Living Card Games, and it's nice to have one I can play without constantly having to flip a pair of dime store reading glasses on and off. This game is so full of Marvel-ness, and it plays off the comic books, not the movies, which is excellent, since the actual comics have a million times as much content as the MCU. There are still some echoes of the MCU, however; for instance, the game leans really heavily into Spider-man and the Avengers, and there is a noticeable lack of X-Men related content, at least at the moment. (I'm writing this in January of 2021.) Hopefully that will be corrected, since the Marvel Universe without X-Men is like a virgin daiquiri - still good, but lacking an essential element. All in all, though, I am loving this game. The mechanics are clever, it shows a lot of love and knowledge of the source material, and it's easy to set up and play, either alone or with friends. You get enough in the starter box for four players, which is another big improvement over past offerings from Fantasy Flight Games. I'm really looking forward to collecting all the content for this one.

Awesome game!
This is such a fun game for a group and especially solo. It takes a little bit of reading to understand the cards, but once you do it’s easy and fun to play. I recommend if you want a themed, in-depth card game. It also comes with everything you need to start playing right away. This is not for kids 14 or younger.

Could have been awesome
Amazing game, nice starter set with enough options. But the She Hulk deck was missing card nr. 1 to 5..., the seal of the foil seemed to have a manufacturing error. Was really looking forward to this game, kinda bummed :(

Delivers cinematic Marvel clashes!
This is an absolutely cracking game! Each player takes the role of a member of the Marvel pantheon and, through a delightfully simple customisation system for advanced players, each character is played in entirely different ways.Iron Man and Black Panther must suit up before they can start start really breaking out, but when they do they'll shred the opposition.Powerhouses, Captain Marvel and She Hulk, deliver ground-shaking blows but also offer complexity and can take the hurt. And then there's Spider-Man. He's the one you learn to play first with Captain Marvel for the second Player. Our beloved wall-crawler is dynamic, uncomplicated and diverse: the perfect all-rounder.The game allows for up to 4 players to play simultaneously, and with each player phase done, the Villain takes their turn. The game comes with 3 fully customisable Villain decks, each with their own difficulty levels. Start with Rhino, build confidence, make him tougher and get the feel of the heroes. Then take on the unpredicable Klaw at his easiest difficulty.Sooner or later you'll get the courage to take on the game's tier 3 Villain: Ultron.Use everything you've learnt and you will take him down. Then set him to full power and feel the sheer terror of him taking the Multiverse as he clouds the skies with drones. This game recommends 12+ age.I've had children of a much younger age knocking Ultron around - the tough part is making sure they respect the cards (and their wording). This can be a great hobby or focus tool with supervision. With this version of the game you can, should you enjoy it as much as I have, buy the expansions box and blister sets. I recommend these, too, but for the right price look for the player's favorite characters first! For instance, some characters are their own blister packs, ie: Captain America, Incredible Hulk, Black Widow, while others appear in the Box Sets (that come with SSOOOOO much more) such as Shadowcat and Colossus, Rocket and Groot. The game does come with counters. I recommend a small tray to keep them accessible in-game, but other than that this game comes with everything. The more players, the more table space you are going to require.Excellent replayability and advanced players will enjoy customising every aspect of the games to come. You will spend about 45 mins per game but you'll lose hours if you love the game.

A Must-Have for Solo Gamers Who Love Marvel and Strategy
As someone who often plays solo, Marvel Champions has been an absolute gem. The game is designed with solo play in mind—each hero feels unique, and the modular villain system keeps things fresh and challenging every time. Whether you're taking on Rhino for a quick match or diving into a longer battle with Ultron, the experience is consistently engaging and rewarding. The core set includes five heroes and three villains, offering plenty of variety right out of the box. The deck-building is intuitive but deep, and the game scales beautifully whether you're playing solo or with others. The production quality is excellent, with vibrant artwork and clear components. If you're a Marvel fan or just love strategic card games that respect solo players, this is a fantastic investment.
