




When Hayley Williams began writing lyrics for the songs that appear on Paramore's self-titled new album, she found herself feeling more optimistic than ever before about the future of the band she has fronted since she was 15. "I had this kind of Tony-in-West-Side-Story-moment when he sings about how something is coming. He doesn't know what it is, but it's going to be great," she says with a laugh. "A lot of the new songs came out of that. They're about needing to find whatever's next."Lead-off single "Now" - with lyrics like "if there's a future, we want it now" - sets the urgent tone of Paramore, the Nashville, Tennessee-bred band's fourth album. Given the choice of packing it in or reinventing themselves as a trio, Williams, guitarist Taylor York, and bassist Jeremy Davis chose the latter and made a positive, uplifting album that reflects who they are in the present. "I'm really proud of the fact that this is not an angry Paramore album," Williams says. Adds Davis: "It's a lot happier and brighter album than people might expect given what's happened. We've wanted to write songs like this for so long, but weren't there emotionally. Now we are."The band members holed up to write over the past year and a half and emerged with a collection of songs that retains Paramore's youthful spirit, but clearly shows their evolution. It's the most musically adventurous set they've released to date. Which isn't to say the album won't thrill longtime fans. Still present is a ferocious, churning energy (a hallmark of Paramore's sound) on "Now," "Fast In My Car," "Proof," "Anklebiters," and "Be Alone." But the album should also earn Paramore new listeners, thanks to the trio's willingness to explore uncharted sonic territory, like the funky, high-stepping "Ain't It Fun" (featuring soulful vocals from Williams, slap-bass from Davis, and the soaring sound of a gospel choir), the doo wop-inflected "(One of Those) Crazy Girls," and the lilting, string-filled "Hate To See Your Heart Break." "People obviously give Hayley credit for being an amazing singer, but I don't think they really understand how versatile she is and how much her voice can do," York says. In this album, we hear a much more optimistic band. With nearly four years since their last album, this album shows paramore taking risks, and emerging from their comfort zone. They are developing their range, and quite frankly I think that's amazing. In this album, many people suggest that the band is more "pop", but I don't think these people have listened to the full album. There are some songs up here that are unique to say the least, but you can hear the old paramore we all fell in love with throughout the album. The highlights of this album are Part II, which incorporates lyrics from "Let the flames begin" from Riot. This is too awesome to me being able to hear those lyrics revived and relived. Last hope takes us back to the softer paramore, such as the only exception, breath, and many songs from the first album. There are a few other slow songs up here as well, like future and hate to see your heart break. While slow, they show the purity of Hayley's voice. Other highlights include Still into you, and despite having a pop like verse, the chorus takes us back to that alternative band. You find that a lot in this album, verses incorporate things that are totally different from what we are used to, but the choruses often times stay the same, which we see in Still into you, now, Proof, and Ani't it fun. This album shows a funner paramore, in songs like crazy girls, and fast in my car. While it is true they have matured, we see in this album a reborn Paramore. This album is by no means as great as All we know is falling, which in my opinion was their greatest work, but it is still an album that magnifys one of the greatest bands ever. Haley shows us a different side of her, and in the lyrics, we see a band that is so incredibly happy, and optimistic. It is different, and many scruitenize this album because of that, but once you listen to the entire album once, your hooked. You hear the old paramore still in there, alongside a new paramore that is just trying to show how much they have grown in the past four years. Wonderful album, I have listed to it cover to over about eight times, which translates into about nine hours in two days. It is well worth it, and with 17 tracks, you can't go wrong. One note is there are two bonus tracks, which are not included on the physical album but can be listened to on rido for free. These are escape route, which is the old Paramore one hundred percent. I highly recommend you listen to this, because this is by far the best song for this album, and seems like many of the songs on the third album. The other bonus track is "native tongue" which is decent, but not the cream of the crop. All in all this album does not disappoint. Paramore and producers Justin Meldel-Johnson and Ilan Rubin played an enormous part to the sounds heard on the record that echo much with Brian Eno and Nile Rodgers. Imagine growing up in the 1980s and hearing the opening drum rolls of any fast-paced Blondie song such as “Dreaming” and the pounding done by Clem Burke, “Day Dreaming” and “Fast in My Car” have that sound. Also, one wonders was the band listening to early U2 or Echo and the Bunnymen for the atmospheric “Part II.” Most of the songs on the album contain keyboards and synthesizers and that big production sound of the 80’s but not so much bordering on Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Want to Have Fun,” but “Grow Up” comes close. Within the same lines of Lauper, Hayley Williams adds a bit ukele a la Rudy Vallee with “Interlude Moving On” “Interlude Holiday,” “Interlude I’m Not Angry Anymore.” And the singles are quite enticing to listen to “Still into You” and “Ain’t it Fun,” which is reminiscent of the funk and pop of Teen Marie with its very danceable beat and unforgettable lyrics. “Be Alone” is the most power pop song on the record and “Proof” and “Future” has grunge-Seattle style written all over each one. The band has produced a very eclectic album that may appeal to every listener that is interested in wanting to know the sound that is Paramore. This is the album that unveils the infectious vocals of Hayley Williams and the musicianship of Jeremy Davis and Taylor York and that Paramore sound.

La banalità del titolo si spiega col fatto che, dopo i litigi che hanno portato all'allontanamento dei 2 fratelli Farro, questo è come una rinascita, un nuovo capitolo. La musica che ci offrono i 3 superstiti (non ci sono state aggiunte al momento nella formazione) mostra segni di cambiamento evidenti. Alcuni hanno detto che sono diventati più pop, e non è falso, ma il loro nuovo aspetto pop non va inteso come musica più commerciale o banale, anzi. A differenza di altri che hanno annacquato la loro musica o hanno perso la loro ragione d'essere ricercando solo la hit da classifica i Paramore non hanno perso le caratteristiche principali, la loro musica rimane altamente energetica, frizzante, veloce ed orecchiabile, però hanno aggiunto altri sapori e spezie alla loro ricetta, che nel disco precedente iniziava a dare segnali di stanchezza. Ed ecco quindi accenni funky in Aint it fun echi reggae in Crazy Girls[, pop alla Blondie in Day Dreaming, ballate soft come Hate to see you heart break[. vi sono poi tre pezzi denominati interlude, che sono appunto dei brevi interludi di tipo acustico/country, molto gradevoli, che creano dei diversivi sonori. Anche i pezzi più sul vecchio stile risultano così più gradevoli e pezzi come PArtII , Still into you e Be Alone sono maledettamente trascinanti ed orecchiabili. Forse non tutto tutto è all'altezza, le prime 3 canzoni, tra cui Now, non sono eccezionali, ma il resto del disco è veramente bello e sorprendente, come la chiusura di Future, un pezzo che parte lento, poi si eclissa per poi ritornare con una progressione rock degna quasi del prog rock anni 70. Tirando le somme ho l'impressione che sia il migliore disco dei Paramore e, alla fine, potrebbe essere uno dei migliori dischi dell'anno. Consigliato

I love Paramore and the songs in this album and the pressing is beautiful. I just wished Amazon packaged it well. There are visible fold marks in the jacket and I'm not sure if they sent it in this condition or if it was because of poor packaging. They put it in a big box instead of a vinyl box without any bubble wrap. My excitement for this product was met with disappointments instead.

...wird sich hier der ein oder andere gedacht haben - sowohl in positiver als auch in negativer Weise. Paramore sind zurück. Und Paramore haben sich verändert (und damit ist nicht nur der Abgang zweier Bandmitglieder gemeint). Mein erster Eindruck des neuen Albums: Hier werden die Meinungen weit auseinander gehen. Und ansatzweise spiegelt sich das schon in den Amazon-Rezensionen wider. Ich persönlich finde es sehr gelungen und das auch obwohl ich beim ersten Hören dachte: WTF?! Die subjektive Bewertung hängt natürlich sehr stark davon ab, mit welcher Erwartungshaltung man an diese CD geht. Paramore-Fans, die eine Forsetzung des altbekannten Sounds von "All we know is falling" oder "Riot" erwarten, werden sicherlich sehr enttäuscht wenn nicht gar entsetzt sein. Damit hat "Paramore" nämlich fast nichts mehr gemein. Alle diejenigen, die sich eine Weiterentwicklung und mehr Abwechslung gewünscht haben, werden voll auf ihre Kosten kommen. Auch anspruchsvollen Hörern, die vorher noch nichts mit Paramore anfangen konnten, wird dieses Album gefallen - was aber nicht mit Mainstream zu verwechseln ist (eher im Gegenteil). Für meinen Teil kann sagen, dass ich "Paramore" als eines der besten Paramore-Alben ansehe - wenn nicht sogar als das Beste. Es ist eine CD vom alten Schlag, die mit abwechslungsreichen Songs eine Geschichte erzählt und endlich einmal wieder über 60 min Hörgenuss hergibt. Soviel Experimentiertfreude und vor allem das daraus resultierende, sehr hörenswerte Ergebnis hätte ich der Band nie zugetraut. Wenn ich das neue Album nicht in die Finger bekommen hätte, hätte ich Paramore mit Verweis auf den ewig gleichklingenden Teenie-Emo-Pop-Rock-Musikeinheitsbrei abgeschrieben... ...was für ein Glück, das dem nicht so ist! Frei nach dem Motto: "Paramore ist tot. Es lebe Paramore !"
