They updated the Keyboard!!! It now looks much more tougher as it is not made of plastic as the previous version. Original Review (May 12, 2021): I bought this Keybaord in August 19, 2015, and yesterday (May 11, 2021) some keys died off. This keybaord has lasted almost 6 years. Is 6 years the average lifespan of a keyboard? Looking online I just learned that the average life span of a mechanical keyboard is 10 to 15 years. And the really good ones last more than 20 years. I thought 6 years was good until I looked it up. The keyboard is fine. It is great to be able to switch between DVORAK and QWERTY Keybaord with a push of a button. I wish the keyboard had more ergonomic design such as place to rest your hands. And one thing that I really miss when using this keyboard is that it does not have a multimedia keys. It is sometimes very troublesome to try to use the mouse and move the cursor to a specific app or window to control the volume, instead of just simple press in the keyboard. I am currently debating if I should re-buy again or buy an ergonomic keyboard even if it comes with QWERTY. Or perhaps I shall buy it again as my elderly dad is already used to the DVORAK Key layout and it will be a big hassle for him to re-learn another layout. I really want to get comfortable with the Dvorak system and these keyboards are difficult to find. Unfortunately my first one of these had a very annoying flaw - randomly repeating keys (by random I mean several times an hour sometimes). There have been times when I have hit the backspace key and turned away for a few moments and look back to find that half of my document has disappeared. As I said, this is my second. I figured that perhaps it was just a manufacturing defect on the first, but no, this second one shows the same symptoms straight out of the box. It's a shame, because it has a good solid feel to it with nice key travel. It reminds me of the feel of some of the electric typewriters I used in the 1970s. If I wanted to type at high speed -- over 100 words/minute -- I would prefer a softer touch. But at my way slower speed, I welcome the firm feel and the tactile feedback. If you will be typing near people listening to music , TV, or on phone calls, they may object to a steady barrage of key clicks. Seems some people prefer soft and silent to a good positive feel. I also like to be able to rest my fingers lightly on the keys without getting strings of unwanted characters. **Q: How loud are the keys (compared to other mechanical keyboards)** A: My Matias Dvorak Keyboard is slightly quieter than the other two mechanical keyboards I have used: Keytronic and Cherry. The Matias spacebar and shift keys produce more sound than the alpha-numeric keys. The alpha-numeric keys are as quiet as some membrane keyboards I've used. If you are typing in the same room as someone who is watching TV, they may object to the sound from the Matias keyboard. There is an interesting article on mechanical keyboards from "PC World" that includes a table/chart showing the sound levels (decibels) of 6 mechanical and 2 membrane keyboards. The average levels are about 57 db and 51 db.
