Astoundingly effective, whisper quiet, highly recommend.
I bought a $90 tower purifier which took a long time to clear the air and which was noisier than a jet engine. I lived with it, but when the Canadian wildfire smoke descended upon us in NYC, I loaned it to my downstairs neighbor, who had elderly and special needs family members, and I ordered this as a replacement. It's more than double the cost of the other unit, but based on the reviews from the New York Times and other review sites, the quality and performance are well worth the investment. So I splurged and got this unit. While I was waiting for it to arrive, the air pollution got really bad and I had been coughing, eyes were watering and I was forced to wear an N-95 mask at home just to breathe. When the purifier finally arrived, I turned it on and the sensor light went red to indicate the high level of contamination in the air. I opened the doors of every room of my apartment to let it go to work and after a few minutes at full power, the light turned from red to purple, and about 5 minutes later, it went blue. I took my mask off and the air was pure and fresh. It is an absolute superhero at cleaning a large volume of air very quickly. I was thoroughly impressed. The sensor is very sensitive and will turn purple if you are just cooking something that releases strong scents into the air (sauteeing onions and peppers, etc.) and it goes red if you're burning anything. Another upside is that my kitchen smoke detector has stopped going off if I'm grilling something, because the purifier keeps the air quality under control. At the highest setting, it's about as loud as my old purifier at the middle setting, which is to be expected, as you would only set it that high to quickly clear out a room or if there's smoke from cooking, etc. But the massive volume of clean air it blows out in exchange for that short term annoyance is staggering. However, at the 2nd highest setting it is barely detectable, producing a pleasant, white noise background sound that you quickly tune out. It makes falling asleep very easy, and if you have the air conditioner on you can't hear the purifier at all. At it's lowest setting, it blows out a nice stream of air but is utterly and completely silent. You couldn't even hear it at night time in a small, quiet room with the door shut. Amazing. They say you never regret buying the best. They know what they're talking about. This is worth every penny and then some. 5 stars, all day.

A really great air purifier that has many key improvements/advantages over its competitors
I got this air purifier for a relative that has COPD. They already had an Alen T100 that they were pleased with. But, as is common in multiple industries where a core product requires a consumable, it's often not the condition of the core product but the availability of the required consumable that dictates when a product has to be replaced. While I've been able to find enough replacement air filters for that one air purifier, when the need arose for a 2nd air purifier for a second section of the house, instead of just getting a newer Alen, I opted to start the research process all over again and, this time, the clear winner was Coway And, as well as the Alen has done over the years, it didn't take long to see how much better the Coway model was by comparison. A first major difference is in the design and aesthetics. With several color variants and another model with a more classic look, it doesn't visually stand out as much as a typical tower air purifier does. It's more stylish and "elegant". Second, there are actual very practical functional reasons for those aesthetics. Instead of blowing air on people horizontally, it blows the air straight up so that nobody feels the air blowing. It's also significantly quieter so even set on medium speed it's quieter than the Alen at low speed. That's impressive given that this model is designed to handle a space 3X as much as the Alen was. But, it's due to the design of having the air come in from the sides and then exit out the top. It just provides a much more natural method of air circulation. And, also means it can be tucked along a wall and out of the way ... with the cord blocked from view if located directly at the power outlet. Another great feature that the Coway has that I haven't seen before is that you have 4 stage filtration .... with the initial pre-screen stage being a built-in filter that can be washed ... followed by the 1st charcoal filter to catch large objects like hair .... followed by a 2nd filter that have 4 replacement options and therefore can be customized based on what types of odors or particles a person needs filtered out ... and finally the HEPA filter that catches the smallest particles that make it past the other three. Not only is this like a coin-sorter process of filtering out different things at different people ... but this is why, unlike a lot of air purifiers, the main filters can last 1 year instead of just 6 months. The built-in filter is recommended to be cleaned once a month. The charcoal filter 6 months. The "environmental/smell" filter being replaced once a year. And, the HEPA filter being able to last even longer depending on environment. Where it actually gets better at filtering over time ... but then the tradeoff is air flow reduction. That's why the official recommendation is still once a year. And, best of all, the NYT wirecutter review I'd found says Coway has made continual improvements over the years to this product, which really shows. Many manufacturer's just seem intent on constantly reinventing the wheel and it seems Coway was instead focusing on perfecting what it already had. Very pleased with the results and the good deal we'd gotten on it. While we hope the Alen continues to do well for several more years, at least it's nice knowing that we already know what to replace it with whenever it become necessary.

Quiet, Effective, and Worth Every Penny
I’ve been very happy with this Coway Airmega air purifier. It’s surprisingly quiet, even when running throughout the day, and it has made the air in our home feel noticeably fresher and cleaner. I especially appreciate the automatic mode, which adjusts based on air quality without needing constant attention. The design is sleek and compact, so it doesn’t take up much space, and the filter replacement process is simple. We use it in a bedroom and have noticed less dust and fewer allergy symptoms. It runs efficiently and gives peace of mind knowing it’s helping improve our indoor air quality. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a reliable, easy-to-use air purifier. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

EXCELLENT for drowning out outside noise! Lasted 4 years.
I’ll touch on the purification, but the reason I have this, and why it was suggested to me - is for a sleeping aid! That is ALL I use it for and it is EXCELLENT for such. I was miserable and tried earplugs and white noise through my speaker. My brain knew that was artificial. This thing did the trick! My savior! It has 3 speed levels. Which, I’m guessing the lowest levels is what they’re saying is more quiet than an air conditioner. Level 3 is absolutely NOT more quiet than an AC. This isn’t about it justing be loud enough to drown out noise. I’m pretty sure it’s about FREQUENCY. Imagine the sound of an air conditioner, but a little louder and giving you a slight breeze to make your room just a SMIDGE cooler. If there are cars, birds, noisy AC condenser units outside, or people talking outside, turn this thing immediately makes them DISAPPEAR like magic. I think it’s got to do with the airwave frequencies. It brings your mental attention to your room because the purifier sound is in your room. So it keeps you in the present and kind of acts as a sensory deprivation when it comes to audio. It also makes light rain sounds disappear AND thunder!!! While not being disturbing. It’s soothing to me. I had this thing for 4 years until the fan gave out. Using it almost every night. Level 2 will only drown out the most subtle nuances like light wind and things in the distance. Sometimes I use it if it’s a quiet night. But level 3 is what I usually use to really help me knock out. If it’s off or level 2 and I wake up to some noise outside or wind chimes, I just get up and punch the 3 and boom it’s all gone and I’m back to bed. 😴 As for purifying the air, it’s always showing a blue light to indicate clean air. But it’s still good to use because the sensor doesn’t detect EVERYthing. For me the air purification is just a bonus. I probably wait too long to change the filters but they’re easy to do! And dust doesn’t go flying everywhere when I change it. That I can see.. But remember all you gotta do is turn it back on when the filter is changed in order for it to clean that invisible dusty air back up. I assume. Very RARELY does the light change to indicate air impurity. Maybe sometimes purple if it’s SUPER windy or there was a fire somewhere outside that you can smell. One time I was applying a diatomaceous earth powder to my room for bugs, and the light went REDD and I left it runnning for a whole day and I think it reallly helped. Probably wasn’t good at all for the machine but it kept going! I have never tried out the ion setting because the description I have read scares me. Ion wanna try it.. A few days ago, after 4 years, the fan just stopped going. And it made some noise. For the week leading up to it, sometimes the fan would slow down for 5 seconds and then go back. It sounded more like a power issue with maybe my apartment. But then when the fan stopped, I think that was my answer. Not sure how long it’s shooosed to last. I’m sure it varies. But I would say it’s worth it for 4 years. I don’t need any pictures. What you see in the other pictures is accurate. It’s the height of the length of a coat hanger! It’s less than a coat hanger wide by a good bit, and it’s half the length of a coat hanger deep when you measure behind it. Maybe that’ll give you an idea of the size. Not bad. It’s at the foot of my bed. Cleaning it was super simple. I’m ordering another one and it’s giving me same-day shipping. Idk. It’s cool.

Very good unit.
Very happy with these (I have two) and they do really help. My only complaint is that you cannot set the "auto" position to actually use "medium" as the default speed. Easy to clean and filters aren’t terribly expensive.

Quiet, Efficient and Good Looking
Bought this on recommendation of NYT Wirecutter in anticipation of what has become a ritual 2 weeks of summer wildfire smoke in these parts. First off, it looks good with modern crisp lines. The color isn't yellowish as it shows on the Amazon website, but a pleasant off-white. Filters slide/pop in and out easily. For most situations operation is totally automatic. It adjusts the fan cycle depending upon the particulate level, going to Eco mode if the air is really clean and Sleep mode when it's dark. Just plug it in, turn it on and let it go. We've so far only had it ramp up to 3 out of 4 (burning oil odor from a waffle maker) where it only produces a quite tolerable low level white fan noise. When in Eco and Sleep modes it's nearly totally silent. We detected no offensive oders during initial operation as some othe reviewers have. It's a plus to have particulate readouts available for viewing.

Amazing air purifier with everything built in
I’m genuinely impressed with the Coway Airmega Mighty2. It's one of those rare air purifiers that focuses on solid performance and thoughtful design rather than flashy connectivity. The fact that it doesn’t rely on an app is actually one of its biggest strengths. Everything you need to know is presented right on the unit itself, with smart, easy to understand indicators. The real-time air quality display is excellent: it shows PM 1.0, PM 2.5, and PM 10.0 levels clearly, so you can see exactly what’s in your air. Having those precise readings makes a big difference compared to models that only show vague color lights. Maintenance is incredibly easy too. The slide out pre filter design is great for stopping dust from getting everywhere when removing it. No awkward panels or latches, just pull, clean, and slide it back in and unlike most air purifiers, the Mighty2 actually tells you the health percentage of both the pre filter and the main filters. That level of information makes upkeep feel effortless and ensures you never second guess when it’s time for maintenance or replacement. Performance wise, it’s fast, effective, and quiet. You can see the air clearing within minutes, and even at higher fan speeds, the sound is more of a soft hum than anything disruptive. The build quality is sturdy and reassuring, with intuitive controls that make operation simple for anyone.

Very effective and compact, easy to move around.
Been using the Coway Airmega since March 2025. Run it on Medium most of the time which is level 2. From what I read the highest speed (3) uses a lot more electricity and is meant for quick "clean-ups" when the air is full of smoke or strong odors. Very quiet on speed 1, sort of white noise on speed 2 and kind of loud on speed 3. It is very easy to pick up and move to another room. The cord is a generous length. And if you search Amazon for replacement filters there are generic brands that work as well as the very pricey OEM Coway filters so save some money and buy generic. Overall it is a real workhorse and my allergy symptoms are barely noticeable when I run it on medium. (2nd speed ) all night and most of the day. I turn it off a few hours a day thinking it might be good for the motor to cool off?? I looked at Winix and Lenoit and returned both for different reasons. But the Coway Airmega is a keeper!!!!

A must have for any condo or medium space!
I’ve been running the Coway Airmega AP-1512HH(W) in my 600 sq foot condo and it’s been a solid, no fuss air purifier. Setup is simple, the filters are easy to access, and the pre-filter being washable is a nice touch because it catches a lot of the bigger dust and hair before it hits the main filters. Most of the time, I leave it on Auto or Eco. Auto is great for day-to-day use, it ramps up quickly after cooking and then settles back down once things clear. Eco is even better if you like a quieter room because it will shut the fan off when the air has been clean for a while, then kick back on when it detects something. In normal use, speeds 1 and 2 are very quiet, speed 3 is loud, but it also moves a lot of air so I only use it when I actually need it. The air quality light and colour indicator is genuinely useful (and you can turn the light off). After a few hours I noticed my place feels fresher, and it clears cooking smells faster than I expected for a unit this size. Only thing to keep in mind is the ongoing filter cost, it’s worth checking replacement prices where you live and considering grabbing a spare set when they’re on sale. Overall though, for the size, noise level on low and mid, and how well it keeps up in a small to medium room, I’m happy with it. Highly recommend!

Brilliant
I got this as we have pets and I have asthma and I am allergic to dust, spores, scents e.g. It came very carefully wrapped from the boxing of the product to the individual filters all in protective packaging. I turned it on and straight away it detected cooking smells and on Auto it started up and turned itself off when air went from red to blue. For those saying it doesnt work … did you take all the wrapping off the filters? Its a modern design and fits nicely against a wall. The air felt so much fresher this morning ( we live near to the sea so home has a sort of beach hut smell generally and close by trees blow pollen in) It clearly removes spores as I didnt have my usual sneezing fit this morning having left it on auto over night.

Didn’t work from the get-go
Opened the box a and followed all the instructions to remove packaging etc but it never worked. After switching on the power butter the speed buttons flash and then I’m not able to click on anything else. It doesn’t turn on at all. And very unhelpful customer service so have not been able to return the item!
