Very easy to use
This is a great vacuum sealer that I use with the Costco rolls of vacuum seal bags. It works very well and is basically mandatory if you want to save fish in the freezer. It is also a lot more effective than using plastic wrap to prevent freezer burn on meats. The bags end up waterproof after sealing so you can put them in a shallow bowl or something like a brownie pan to thaw more quickly.

Buy one
Works well very basic. I liked this one so much I bought a second one for my sister. If I changed anything I would request a female port to access ball jar lid attachment. As it is I have to use the male port. This replaces a 30+ year old name brand, wore it out cracked plastic. A second fancy Costco do it all self contained $300. What a hunk of junk. Never worked properly Apperantly just like it was designed to do.

Easy To Use
I learned my lesson after buying a cheap 20 dollar sealer. Didn't keep a seal and didn't work after a month. Luckily I was able to return to Amazon for a refund, which I put towards the purchase of a this better sealer. I had never used one before but now that I have a much nicer and better made sealer I doubt that I could live without one. I use it not only for freezing foods but I use the pulse feature on foods that I store in the fridge for longer life. I use to put my carrots in 2 quart mason jars in the fridge to extend their life which worked well. But now I seal them in the bags and put in the crisper drawer and they last twice as long. Also when I remove a carrot I just reseal the bag. I find if I wrap a lot of my food items in saran wrap before I put them in the bags to seal, that the bags are actually reusable as long as the raw item hasn't touched the inside of the bag. I usually wrap my large cabbage tightly in saran wrap and it will stay fresh in a crisper for about 3 weeks. I decided to try using a large sealer bag as an experiment. Normally I would leave the core and Never Wash The lettuce or cabbage before storing, you can do this when your ready to use it. This time I cut the cabbage in half leaving the split core on each just because the bag wouldn't be big enough. I sealed both halves of the cabbage and placed them into the crisper drawer. That was a month ago and the cabbage is still fresh with no browning of the core or leaves. Then I decided to do the same with my lettuce. I removed the wilted outer leaves and removed the core. Sliced the lettuce into 4 wedges and used the pulse to remove air and then seal. I used a large bag on each so when I cut the top and remove some lettuce leaves I can easily reseal the bag. My lettuce now lasts for up to 4 weeks with store bought and almost 8 weeks with my garden raised. I am discovering a whole new world and concept with using a Vacuum sealer. Now I wish I had bought one with the jar sealer att. but I bought a hand held and dry seal all of my dry goods in my 2 quart canning jars. I love this sealer and hope it lasts a long time.

Compact and the best sealer (for me) out there.
I have had many sealers over the years but this is my favorite so far. It does not feature a lot of fancy buttons or options but it does it's job with exceptional quality. Vacuum is great and seal is even better. I love the lock design because it is especially tight and makes a fantastic seal, even with some moisture coming through. It is also noteworthy to mention that this is a very slim and compact design. It could fit in a drawer, which my last 3 have not. I seal fish with this and after a long Alaska trip, I sealed several hundred bags in a single session without any issues. I thing you should know though, when sealing dozens of items one after the other, the sealer will get hot and you may accidently seal a bag before the vacuum starts. If sealing multiple items in a row, just wipe the seal bar with a moist towel to cool it off, very simple.

10,000 Stars! Fun and EASY Beyond Belief!
There are only 3 buttons: 1-"Vacuum and seal", 2- "Seal" 3- "Pulse" (do it yourself instead of the machine) So easy and convenient. This one's a no-brainer. LOVE it! EDIT: OMG! It broke. Doesn't vacuum anymore. I only used it for a week! I am so disappointed. ๐ญ

It's Disposable at Best!
We purchased ours in June 2020 and it started having issues about 12 months later and then 18 months it barely worked at all. We contacted customer service because we thought hat for $79 (then) it should last more than 18 months. Thesuction power gave out almost completely and it stopped sealing as well. We did all the trouble shooting, no problems there. Then we emailed customer service as some mentioned here and they came back with a laundry list of tasks we would need to complete before being considered for some type of replacement? refund? nothing at al after making a video??? I copy and pasted it here so that you know what you are in for if your vacuum sealer gives out: We are terribly sorry to hear that you have faced this issue. We will like you to go through the following steps to see if this resolves the issue: The machine will not turn to seal automatically if the vacuum pressure inside the bag is not able to reach to the predetermined vacuum pressure. Check sealing strip and foam gasket beneath the lid for debris, wipe clean and try again. Make sure no breaking or distortion of the foam seal gaskets on both the cover and on the base around the vacuum chamber. Take it out from the groove, wash and dry it thoroughly; or replace with a new foam gasket (get it from where you brought it or your nearest service center). Vacuum bag may have a leak. Reseal or use another bag. Ensure top cover is pushed down and locked on both ends of the machine at the beginning of the operation before starting the vacuuming process. Leaks caused by wrinkles, debris crumbs, grease or liquids from the bag. Reopen bag, wipe the top inside of the bag and smooth it out along the sealing strip before resealing. Please kindly try the following steps and If the issue still persists, please reply back to this email with proof of purchase from either Anova or a 3rd party, a video showing the issue you have described, and the unit serial number. We will do our best to come up with a resolution. Do have a great day.

**UPDATED AFTER 1.5 YEARS - Exactly what you need to vacuum seal -
***UPDATE after 1.5 years My review below stands, this thing still works great. I was planning a major kitchen remodel when I bought this and thought I would go with a built in vacuum sealer. Then corona virus hit and we paused. After using this sealer and beginning my remodel again, I decided to stick with this and save my money on the built in one. I can buy 25 of these for that price and this will still work better. You just can't go wrong with the simplicity of this thing. -------------- So there are lots of these things out there, I am on my third, as I sous vide a lot. First was a fairly basic food saver, which died after many years of use. I looked for a similar unit, but they are now expensive and big. Decided to go with a highly reviewed one on Amazon, what a piece of junk, lasted 4 months and it was slow, with way too many things trying to happen. Total waste, when what you need is something that sucks our the air and seals the bad. I don't to store a roll of plastic, I use premade bags, I don't need a special cutter, I have scissors (for the few times I use a roll). On to the Anova, this thing is simple. Three buttons, vac and seal, seal and pulse the vacuum. It is light, small and easy to maneuver. For bags with liquid, you can lock the lid, hold the sealer up in the air and pulse in one hand, get the air out and then seal it manually. I just works, it isn't trying to do anything other than what it was intended for. I wish I had found this one first, I wouldn't have had to write a bad review about the crappy big monstrosity I had.

The Real Deal
I bought a Black & Decker vacuum sealer 20 years ago, used a handful of times and put it away because it took so long to make something airtight. Once I started using sous vide to cook, I pulled it out of storage and tried to use it to cook with. The same problems were still there AND the plastic was too thin for longer times or higher cook temps. I called myself taking a flyer on the Anova sealer, but the price was reasonable and I would have returned it in a New York minute if the experience wasn't better. I don't think it's too soon to say I'm impressed. It works quickly, completely, and fairly (for what it's doing) quietly. Actually, I'm thrilled. It's small enough to leave in a drawer. It's simple enough to use for all sorts of storage needs. Grated cheese, asparagus, coped rice, hamburgers, steaks, nuts, I think you get the picture. Ten days of ownership and I have no regrets.

Solid basic vac packer!
Full disclosure here... I've used chamber vac sealers for the last 20 years. Dip type, chamber etc. I also own a vacmaster commercial chamber sealer at home. Now... I needed one for the cottage (the vacmaster is ~80lbs... not good for travelling). For sealing meats etc when deals are good. also for sousvide and other stuff. So.... This unit does the job fantastically. Great suction, solid seals and good duty cycle (i.e. 5-20 seals at a go). No issues so far and I'm about 100 seals in. Considering Anova and the other products I have from them (support etc)... I highly recommend. Does it have a holder for bags? no. Does it have an aux port? yes! Does it have a cutter? No. The seal process relies on you clipping down both sides with physical clips... GOOD choice Anova. Does it require proprietary (i.e. only from Anova) bags? No. In summary.... worth every penny.

Wrong Voltage
It is advertised to be 220 Volts. But it is 120 Volts.
