An excellent supplement for energy and weight loss.
I'm not going to heavily break down the nutritional benefits of this product - because you likely wouldn't be looking at this product if you haven't already at least read an article or two about Chia seeds and their benefits - if not conducted more substantial personal research. What the Nutiva brand offers is a high quality (organic), reasonably-priced product. These seeds are slightly larger than some of the other brands I've shopped. These are marketed as "black" seeds - why they market both black and white seeds is unknown to me because I haven't found any advantage of one colored seed over another - which essentially makes this marketing point irrelevant (at least to me). The "black" seed product isn't 100% black seed either - there's a mix of seed colors; mostly black, but plenty of grey, brownish, off-white and white seeds in the mix. I've been making what I call "seed juice" for a couple years now. I hydrate the seeds for about 10-15 minutes and then mix in my favorite organic juice. Chia seeds give me a noticeable energy boost in the morning, that lasts all day. I would caution individuals who consume large amounts of caffeine to reduce their intake before consuming Chia seeds, because the energy boost has proven to be synergistic. In fact, I made the mistake of consuming multiple doses of Chia seeds (mixed with juice) over the course of a day, and found it almost impossible to go to sleep that night - symptoms similar to a near caffeine overdose I experienced in college. None of the nausea, but all of the insomnia and jitters. So I recommend using the same reasonable consumption guidelines as with caffeine: moderate consumption and avoid consumption after lunch. I have noticed since supplementing my diet with Chia seeds, that my body fat percentage has decreased by 7% and my muscle index has increased by approximately 5%. Changing nothing else in my diet, my weight has gone from 168lbs to 153lbs over 2 years. Chia has helped me control my weight, likely due to the increase in fiber and protein, and my appetite has moderated. If you're looking for a crash diet - this likely won't help much. If you're looking for a long-term supplement that will help increase your energy levels while helping you slowly and permanently reduce your body weight - then this is a smart addition to a longterm plan and commitment to improve your overall health and wellbeing.

Wonderful well priced chia!
Absolutely love these chia seeds and take a tsp night and morning with fresh ginger paste or lemon paste in water. It’s made a difference and I highly recommend this brand.

Tiny Seeds, Superhero Power!
These Nutiva chia seeds have no business being this powerful. I sprinkle a tablespoon into anything and suddenly I’m full, energized, and feeling like I’ve made a responsible adult decision. They gel up in minutes—honestly faster than I get ready in the morning. They’re super clean and fresh, too. No weird taste, no random shells, just tiny overachiever seeds trying their best to improve my life. I’ve put them in smoothies, yogurt, pudding, and at this point I’m tempted to just carry them around like glitter for health. If you want a food that basically does everything except pay your bills, grab these. Nutiva nailed it.

Chia Seeds the Amazing Super Food
I had heard that Chia seeds were very healthy and they contained a lot of good things. I was scooping them in smoothies, and yogurt. Since that time, I did more research and found some interesting info. They are full of omega 3's. They give you energy. They expand 12 times there size if you use them correctly. They contain protein as well as fiber. 1 tbsp equals the protein of 1 egg. They help to regulate cholesterol. The list goes on and on. Something very helpfl to people who buy the seeds is in preparation. I was going through them quickly because I was using them incorrectly. Here is the correct way: For every tbsp you scoop out you add 1/2 to 3/4 cups of water depending on how thick you like it. I usually do 2 tbsp and 1 cup and 1/2 water. Then you leave the seeds in the water for 30 minutes before ever using them. After using them, store them in a container in the refrigerator. They will become like a jelly like pudding. They will last in the fridge for 2 weeks and you can scoop out tbsps and add them to all kinds of foods to get the health benefits. They don't have any taste so they blend into everything. Since the 2tbsp grows 12 x because it absorbs the water, it will last a lot longer and you will be getting a great deal more benefit from them. i am involved in a marathon walk/run training program. I was going on a longer run of 10 miles and needed something in my system that would give me energy but not cause a need for a bathroom trip along the way. I used the chia seeds for fuel in the form of a pudding with a piece of banana and stevia. It worked great. When you buy chia seeds, keep in mind why you are buying them. It is not for the taste. They don't have a taste. IT IS FOR THE AMAZING HEALTH BENEFITS. As far as the Nutiva brand, I am very happy with it. Just remember to order organic chia and stay away from anything made in China.

I Look Forward to Chewing My Water Every Day Now!
A friend recently lost some weight and I asked her why she would get so thin, and she said she wasn't trying to lose weight. She started putting these Chia seeds in her water and she lost weight. I'm not sure they are good for weight loss, but I bought them and did what she said. I put 3 teaspoons (she said she does 2) in my 23.7 oz bottle of Arrowhead water everyday, then I put it in the fridge so it stays cold and leave it in there for at least an hour or two. She does hers the day before, so she always has one ready. The Chia seeds fluff up with a slimy coating (not sure what else to call it), and the first time I drank it, it was odd literally chewing on my water. The Chia seeds only took up 20% of the water area, but I like to shake it so I get some with every drink/bite. I drink 3, 23.7 oz. of water minimum per day, but now, 1 of them is fortified with the Chia seeds. After one week, I can honestly say (okay, this is personal, but I buy based on honest reviews and like to help others, too) that one "movement" per day is more "exceptional" than the others that day. It's usually in the morning, and after just 1 week, I literally feel better. I recently lost weight and started eating some bad foods I should not be eating. I thought I'd put all the weight back on I lost and I didn't! I was like...hmm, is this cause I drink my Chia seeds every day now? I am going to start getting back on the treadmill and watch my diet more. The health benefits alone are insane, and my water really doesn't have much flavor at all. I must be a geek, cause I get excited to drink my water with my Chia seeds now! I wouldn't want to do the Metamucil or any of those other fiber things I've tried because they are all disgusting. They give you stomach problems, too. This gives me NO stomach/intestinal problems whatsoever! If I get a lot of fiber and it has all the health benefits one of the reviewers mentioned, I'm in for life! Thanks, Nutiva, for making a healthy, organic product I enjoy that's good for me!

CHIA SEEDS ARE AWESOME
i have 10 reasons you would love chia seeds Combat Diabetes Chia is being studied as a potential natural treatment for type-2 diabetes because of its ability to slow down digestion. The gelatinous coating chia seeds develops when exposed to liquids-can also prevent blood sugar spikes. Get More Fibre Just a 28-gram or one-ounce serving of chia has 11 grams of dietary fibre — about a third of the recommended daily intake for adults. Adding some chia to your diet is an easy way to make sure you're getting a good amount of fibre, which is important for digestive health. Stock Up On Omega-3 Chia seeds are packed with omega-3 fatty acids, with nearly five grams in a one-ounce serving. These fats are important for brain health. "There's better conversion of omega 3s into the plasma or into the food than with flax seed," said researcher Wayne Coates. Stronger Teeth And Bones A serving of chia seeds has 18 per cent of the recommended daily intake for calcium, which puts your well on your way to maintaining bone and oral health, and preventing osteoporosis. Don't Forget Manganese Manganese isn't a well-known nutrient, but it's important for our health: it's good for your bones and helps your body use other essential nutrients like biotin and thiamin. Fight Belly Fat Chia's stabilizing effect on blood sugar also fights insulin resistance which can be tied to an increase in belly fat, according to Live Strong. This type of resistance can also be harmful for your overall health. Get Full. Faster Tryptophan, an amino acid found in turkey, is also found in chia seeds. While tryptophan is responsible for that strong urge to nap after a big Thanksgiving dinner for example, it also helps regulate appetite, sleep and improve mood.
