Brilliant learning toy
Bought this as a prezzie for my grandson, as a learning toy its brilliant, I've called it the Itab, so much easier, its the child friendly Ipad. He loves it.However for the parents, uploading photos and music is a piece of cake.Sadly not for video. After several weeks of sheer frustration & watching youtube videos regarding this problem I contacted V-Tech a frustrated email was sent to V-tech to get the much needed help. They were helpful to a point. The Itab must use certain video/audio codecs and these must be precise. Using either a a wrong video codec or audio codec it will not play.V-Tech need to get there act together as they have some brilliant learning toys for kids, but they are also shooting themselves in the foot by not allowing the cartridges being compatible with all their other v-tech toys. How many times can you buy Toy-story or cars or even the princess series. This should be addressed by the CEO's at V-Tech & make all cartridges compatible. This is a big let down in my book.

Love it but, invest in some good rechargables!
Very fun! Very educational! My daughter is 3 and I have always got her educational presents beyond her years as I have learned that children adapt! She can work my iPhone better than most lol. so I thought I'd get her an innotab. so far she has no problem navigating it and has worked out a lot of the games. I have yet to buy a cartridge but for Xmas i will get her the princess cartridges as she is obsessed with Disney princesses.I really like this toy as i think it will last a long time. its durable and also it will keep her interest for a good few years. the question is will it keep mine? I love new technology lol.the only downfall is batteries, it eats batteries like they are going out of fashion. so i bought 2 sets of quality rechargeables and it seems to have done the trick. also luckily i have an adapter that has the voltage requirements as the innotab so that's good.apart from the batteries i give it top marks :)

Not a reliable product
This is such a shame.... its a really great idea and potentially a great product for young children however after having to return 2 of these devices we decided to spend the money on a cheap tablet instead. After the product went wrong the first time after 4 months of use, I checked various chat/review sites and saw that the failure of the device to power on was quite common. We decided to return the item and get a replacement and hope we were just unlucky, especially as we had probably spent about £60 on various cartridges and games over the Christmas period. However after the second device having the exact same fault ie not turning on we decided not to bother getting a third device.I think that Vtech rushed this product out for the Christmas market and I think that they have failed to design a reliable product. Personally very disappointed and clearly our son was very upset.I wouldn't buy this product Vtech InnoTab (Blue)

Even I love this toy!
I bought this for my daughter for christmas, I had wanted the pink one but it being Christmas meant stocks were low or out everywhere. The first thing I did upon receiving it was set it up. Also by connecting to the internet and downloading the app for the Vtech Learning Lodge, I was able to install some small games onto it using the free credits you receive with the Innotab. Additional games are around £2.99 each and there seems to be quite a few available.I bought a Mickey Mouse game with this for her to use and she loves it. By choosing a game she adored, it was only a matter of a day or two before she was totally proficient with the Innotab, finding her way around it, knowing how to switch it on and off, change games etc by herself. The screen is a good size and the touch screen works perfectly. However, the stylus which comes with it and which fits into the back of the Innotab when not in use has gone missing on several occasions so I would have thought considering this console is for younger children perhaps they could have attached the stylus with a cord maybe so that it cannot be dropped or lost. There are some great apps on this including a calendar which will be more use to an child but facilities like this means it grows with your child and it should be a few years before they grow out of it.The one major pitfall with this is energy consumption. It really should come with a mains adapter as standard. (both the mains adapter and a car adapter can be bought separately) as I found she was using it so much over christmas that I was changing the batteries on a daily basis as she would get upset when the Innotab just shut down half way through play. It requires 4 x AA batteries and although I was using Duracell super energy ones, they only lasted a day, it just seemed to eat through them. So either invest in rechargeable batteries and a charger or a mains adapter or both. I ended up spending almost as much on batteries as the Innotab cost by the end of christmas.Having said that I cannot find any other con with this apart from maybe the cost of the games cartridges. At £20-30 for a toddler+ game cartridge I think they are fairly hefty and should perhaps be just below £20. The price of £30 is more suitable for an xbox/wii/ps3 type game. All my kids loved having a go at this one and I even did not mind spending the time with my little one to help her learn to play with it. Often I find toddler games consoles a bit tedious but I quite liked this one.
