how do you keep the "stand" under the barrel from collapsing? The rubber bar touches the hot barrel.

I’m not sure what you’re saying I put the stand out and it stands up yes it does touch the rubber on it but it’s never burned or never had trouble with it so I really don’t know sorry about that I know it works great Have a great day I hope this helps that’s all I do with mine

Does the 'Cool Tip' get too hot to touch?

No the tip of the tool does not get hot.

Does this curling iron have a cool tip?

i’m not sure what you mean by a cool tape but there is something on the end that you can’t hold onto I hope that helps have a great day and be safe
