However, after a few months of wearing and washing them, I decided to compare them to my old pair. The Chinese jeans were a little over 1 inch shorter in the inseam as measured from the crotch seam. Also, the Chinese jeans were 1 inch smaller in the waist compared to the Mexico-made jeans. So, my 34Wx36L jeans from China are equivalent to 33Wx35L jeans from Mexico. Not happy. I wear 36/34. 35/34. I went back to my 550. For me much more comfortable. If you’re smaller, skinny person I would stick with the 501 but at 6’1 1/2. I like my butt fully covered not having to pull up my pants every few minutes feeling like I am a plumber. **Q: do these shrink?** A: Both of mine shrank quite a bit after the first wash. I thought maybe the drawing on the Logo (the one with two horses) serves a second purpose as instruction manual. But your own body will stretch it back out. My normal size is 30 W X 32 L. The first time I bought these jeans, I got my normal size. I wore it once. It was tight around my thighs, but the waist fit perfectly. After the first wash, I noticed that the waist was tight and the legs were shorter. I did a search on the web. The most helpful website said that for my size the in-seam shrinks 3 inches and the waist shrinks 1 inch. So, the second time I bought these jeans, I ordered 31W X 34 L. Then, even before wearing them once, I washed and dried them. The drier shrunk the jeans by 1 inch in the waist and by 3 inches for the inseam.I still like the shrunk 30 W X 32 L, my normal size. I feel like I'm being swaddled. I understand that the waist will stretch out over time, but there is no way I'm getting back the missing inches for the in-seam. So, I ordered a third pair that is 30 W X 34 L. **Q: what #'s would be similar in fit to 501's?** A: Don't listen to the trolls who say the 550 is similar fit. 550 is a relaxed fit which couldn't be further from the fit of the 501. **Q: Pardon my ignorance, but which one is the original, regular, normal stf color? I cannot figure it out, with so many colors.** A: Marie is not correct. "Clean Rigid" its not the right color nor fabric. It's a softer and seemingly thinner fabric and has white stitching. I know because unfortunately I ordered a pair based on her answer. This pant is perfect for a rag.. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Only fit as expected for one reason *by C***T on January 28, 2013* Reason being I tried them on in the wash I ordered (and even then I probably just got lucky). Been wearing 501s forever but I only own one, maybe two pairs at a time. I wear them until there's nothing left, then get another pair. Right now I've had one pair for the last two years. They've never seen a washing machine and are only OCCASIONALLY rinsed off in a cold tub and left to drip dry. (Say what you will about hygiene but I'm left with the most comfortable, best fitting jeans this way.) Unfortunately nowadays you can pick up four or five pair of Levi's in different colors and washes, all marked the same size, and you'll find that a few are super baggy, and a couple are so tight you can't even fasten them, but MAYBE one pair will fit like an old glove. Buy that pair and you won't regret it. Kind of makes buying online impossible, which is extra annoying since the places in town that sell them mark them up to almost $80 and then run a "sale" that puts them around $10-15 more than the prices on Amazon, and even those places only carry a few washes/colors. I'm giving five stars to my particular pair of trusty old 501s.
