Question 1

Ingredients: Water, Stevia extract, natural flavors. What exactly are the added "natural flavors"? Please no guessing, only answer if you know.

If they say the natural flavors are a proprietary blend, they could be almost anything that could be classified as a natural flavor, which usually are far from natural--they could be the same chemical as an artificial flavor, but they can call it a natural flavor if it is derived from a plant or animal source, and then processed with catalysts and solvents and preservatives to come up with the same chemical, for example, vanillin. You would often be better off just having the pure artificial ingredient. In this case the natural flavorings are probably one or more of the numerous highly refined stevia extracts. It could even be something like neotame, an artificial sweetener which is an analog of aspartame, and is 8000 times sweeter than sucrose, 40 times sweeter than aspartame. Or something called advantame, another analog of aspartame, that is 20,000 times sweeter than sucrose. Both of neotame and adantame have been approved by the FDA years ago for use in foods and beverages in the United States. And it's possible because they can be used in such small amounts, they would not have to be listed as an ingredient or could be listed as flavor modifier rather than a sweetener.

Natural flavors can be nearly anything, what are the natural flavors in this product?

So according to the representative that I spoke with...listing the ingredients in their "natural flavors" will giveaway their formulations.  Well...that is not true.  There is no way I am going to spend my time to figure out their formula.  Also, it prevents people from determining if they (the consumer) is allergic to any chemical in their product.  So, in my opinion, buy the Whole Foods brand.

Question 3

Will this product remove all the fizz from my carbonated water like Truvia does? I'm hoping not. (I use a sodastream to carbonate my own water.)

Accepted Answer

Sort of.  The problem isn't the product: it's the timing.  If you mix the product into the water before you carbonate, you'll be fine.  If you do it after, it'll drive most of the carbonation out.  Just use the sweetener first.

Why is my Stevia sweet drops stevia clear I just got cloudy?

This is a common occurrence and is not harmful. What you are seeing is the stevia extract separating out of the water. The product has been tested numerous times and we can assure our customers that it is safe. This does not impact the sweetness or use of the item, and it is just a cosmetic issue.

Here are a couple of options to choose from:1- soak the bottle in 8oz of water; hot enough for making hot tea or cocoa - for about 5 minutes. Then take it out and let it rest for 5-10 minutes.

2- Depending on how much liquid remains in the bottle, you can microwave the bottle in 10 second intervals, let it rest for a few seconds in between, for up to 30 seconds maximum.

These methods will emulsify the stevia and water back together after it's had a chance to rest.
