Upholds Bodum's French Press Reputation - More Durable, Beautiful, Design
This press uses the same, reputable all-stainless plunger and mesh filter mechanism as Bodum's Chambord line. The mesh filter included with my order showed no signs of damage and produces a tight seal within the glass beaker. The mesh is fine enough to keep nearly all grinds out of the final cup, and sediment has been minimal within the final cup when using an appropriately coarse grind. This press is absolutely gorgeous in person. I have not noticed any sharp edges, and the chrome finish is consistent and without issue. And water spots, should they appear after air drying, are easy to wipe away. I have found this press to be more durable than the Chambord line. The extra material serves to hold the beaker more snugly, thus better preventing the beaker from slipping out of the holder when pouring, and also helps to prevent bumps, even light ones, from damaging the glass within. As for plastics, the spout is part of the glass beaker, so no plastics there, but the lid's base is made of plastic(s). I am not sure what plastics were used in its construction, but while the water does pass through openings in the lid while pouring, minimal contact is made and I have not noticed the taste affected. Still, for those with a particular adversity, the glass beaker's spout allows for pouring without the top fully engaged if one is careful. Cleaning is akin to other presses, and full disassembly of all major pieces, including the filter, is possible and recommended for cleaning. I have not used the dishwasher to clean this press, and I would never recommend it as this would risk damage to the glass and almost certainly harm the chrome finish after repeated washes. One additional note, be careful not to scratch the glass during the first several cleanings as the beaker is a very, very tight fit for the holder at first. I would recommend a gentle twisting motion be used for the first several beaker removals and insertions. After the first several cleanings, the beaker is a snug, but not overly tight, fit for the beaker and cleaning becomes easier. Would recommend.

Love this!
The design is very aesthetic, and fits perfectly in the kitchen for breakfast. The outer metal sleeve is quite snug at the beginning, but taking it slow gets it off quite easily. Subsequent sleeve removals are much easier! The high heat does not cause wetness on the bottom, a problem which Ive felt with other French Presses. Flavour is amazing, and including the coffee powder spoon is a very nice touch! 10/10 recommend

Price. Design. Function. Quality... Good - Good - Good - Good!
Just fine across the board. The price is suitable to its design. The function caters to its quality. The visual is reminiscent of that all so lovable ornamental modality Art Nouveau with a reserve of Mission styling. Frank Lloyd would be gratified by this coffee maker!

Money well spent!
Knowing that all Bodum products are of good quality, I chose this one mainly for the aesthetics. I feel that the metal sleeve protects the glass beaker from bumps, and adds a little insulation to the coffee. Without the sleeve I'd also be more likely to burn my hand on the hot glass. The sleeve is easily removable for cleaning purposes. I use this press for cold brew coffee as well, and it works beautifully. At first, I wasn't sure of what size to buy, but I eventually decided on the 34 oz because I occasionally serve coffee to groups of people. For 6 people I had to make 2 batches, so I was glad that I didn't get one of the smaller models.

Nice, but be careful
This French press is elegant looking, functions very well, and makes good tasting coffee. Would have given it five stars, except for two reasons: (1) The beaker could really use a re-design. The glass is ultra thin and fragile, making its longevity very questionable. I think even the slightest bump would fracture(2) When dumping the grounds out for cleaning, I need to keep a finger or two on the beaker to prevent it from sliding out of the metal sleeve. But overall, I do like it and would still recommend.

Worth every penny!
For style and function, the Bodum Eileen FP is a great buy... the design is lovely, the construction is sturdy, and it makes some great coffee! The purchase was a bit of a splurge for my co-workers and I but it has already paid for itself in satisfying beverages. I would recommend Bodum for your FP needs (this is my second one... the other is used for camping) and the Eileen model if you have a love of history, design, and/or the architect/artist, Eileen Grey.

Great looking and great coffee! Read my tip!
We love using a French Press every morning. I broke ours. ( DON"T leave it filling under the faucet unattended. It tends to tip over when it is full and break. Stupidly, I've done this 2X!) I decided to spend a little more and get this Eileen instead of just a replacement for the glass. I am so glad I did. This is really beautiful. Love the extra zip and style it lends to our kitchen. The Eileen is also sturdier than the other version. The plastic part where is pours is not as cheap, and I predict will last longer. **I'll give you a tip: I saw this at BB&Beyond for $20 less. And if you can get a 20% off coupon and save even more. I was a little bummed about that, but oh well!

Designer Loves Eileen!
I have only used French presses to make really good, strong coffee for years and Bodum has the very best French presses (I have three sizes). The other's seem like cheap copies of the Bodum and are not equal in quality or style. I've seen the Bodum Eileen 8 Cup French Press in retail stores but thought that it was too expensive. I had been thinking about buying another Bodum for a large family dinner I was hosting, then I happened to see the Eileen in a magazine and did a search on Amazon. Low and behold Amazon had it and at a special affordable price! The weight and ergonomics of the handle are different and better than the classic Bodum French press. I think that because the polished metal "cage" covers more of the glass insert, it will be more durable. After it was delivered, I wondered why I waited so long to buy it. I love it!
