I went looking for a real backup drive after discovering that the cloud sync I'd trusted for months hadn't been copying my desktop and documents anywhere. Turns out "it's syncing" and "it's backed up" are two different sentences. This was the recommendation and it was the right one. Plugged it in, ran the setup, and it started pulling everything across. No drivers and nothing to figure out. If you're on a Mac you'll reformat it first, which is about a minute in Disk Utility. 2TB is more than I need. My whole laptop plus years of photos didn't come close to filling it. It's small enough to live in a bag pocket, which matters depending on whether you want your backup traveling with you or specifically not traveling with you. I paid the extra for the two year data recovery plan. If you're buying this because you just had a scare about losing everything, that add-on is probably the right call. If this is a second copy of a machine that's already backed up elsewhere, skip it. One thing to expect: this is a spinning drive, not an SSD. The first full backup takes a while. Start it before bed and stop watching it.

Muy útil para almacenar y respaldar mis archivos Este disco duro externo me ha resultado muy útil. Lo utilizo principalmente para guardar y respaldar archivos importantes, y tener ese espacio adicional me ha facilitado mucho la organización y el almacenamiento de mis documentos, fotos y videos. Es práctico, fácil de utilizar y cumple muy bien con lo que necesitaba. Para quienes buscan una forma sencilla de ampliar su almacenamiento y mantener sus archivos respaldados, me parece una excelente opción.

I bought it from recommendations, and because it is supposed to be fast and compatible with mac timemachine. But it comes with a USB-A cable. Macbooks haven't had USB-A built-in for how many years now? Macs are all USB-C now. This has no usb-c cable. So no matter how fast it *could* be in theory, it will be throttled by the USB-A adapater I have to use to connect it. Hopefully there is a third party cable available so I can bypass an adapter.

I needed a easy to use portable way to transfer large files, and store backups. This USB hard drive did the trick. It's small, runs off of my computers USB port, and works instantly just like plugging in a thumber drive does. Definitely satisfied with this purchase.

I have several external drive and I have some WD drives that are ten years old and still working like new. Extremely reliable and well made product. It’s a drive that I would recommend to anyone. It’s very portable and you can bring it with you anywhere. It doesn’t heat up, the support from the WD team is amazing if you have questions or concerns. The cost could be a bit lower but I guess it’s worth paying more for a reliable product.
