I noticed mine was squirting water out through a port too. I took it apart and put it back together again and twisted it a few times and it seemed to reduce it. It was still working but obviously the squirt was something new or I would’ve noticed it at the start.

Easy to use： the first, Make sure all of the connections are tight and the bucket you siphoning into is lower than the tank. second, Put the QV letter end downward against the bucket when using because the pump is unidirectional.

No you can’t at all. It has a flap inside the bulb you squeeze that serves to trap or help prevent debris from being sucked up. So if you flipped the priming bulb the other way around the water being forced against this “flap” would stop all flow of water at that point. I hope that makes sense to you, good luck.

No, the sand washer does not have any filter or strainer to keep from sucking up small fish. I bought it based on a previous answer that was incorrect so I thought I should add a true answer. I'll have to rig something up or 3D print a strainer for it.
