The darker colors may be intimidating, or maybe the pinks might be turning you off to this product, but honestly, if you swirl your brush into the entire pan, it gives you a beautiful golden highlight that I can see suiting light/medium- dark skin tones (might be a tad too dark for light skin tones). If you don't want to do that, that's the beauty of the separate colors, because you can just swirl your brush into the section that you want. Most days, I find myself reaching for the top left corner of the 4 lighter shades to highlight my cheekbones. This highlighter does have the ability to be that beaming, seen in another universe highlight (just spritz any type of setting spray on to your brush). But it also can give you a soft, "glow from within" glows, that looks truly magnificent. It will emphasize texture. - Elf baked highlighters (moonlight pearls): This one is the most comparable, but the Physicians Formula gives you a softer glow. -Essence "Be my highlight": this highlight is less beaming than the Physicians Formula one (although it can be built up to quite a glow), I would say that I love both these products equally, but for different reasons since the Physicians Formula one does give me a bit more glow which is great for quick makeup days, and gives me a little more variety of colors -Becca (Opal, Champagne Pop, Prosecco Pop): This one is on a different level in terms of a beaming highlight. If you want that highlight that you can see from the moon, this guy's your best friend. I have fair skin and reddish blond gair, so the colors are perfect. The first strip on the right is perfect for my eyes and includes a highlight color for under the brows, the 2nd row is perfect for blusher, and the other are great bronzers or eyeliner. Everything is right there for my face so when I travel, I just need this set, mascara, and BB lotion for the base and I have a complete set of makeup. It is so flattering too. I love the colors and presentation. There is a small mirror, brush, and sponge brush underneath. What I like about that is that when I get a new box, I get new brushes, so I can actually get away with not bringing other brushes when I travel. The makeup is not too sparkly, either, but is soft with just enough glimmer to make your skin look healthy but not too dry or worse, too glittery.
