Approximately how many candies (such as M&Ms) would this dispense at one time?

With mine I bought the larger bag of M+M's. It held not quite 3/4 of the bag. I also put Skityles in another holder. It will hold almost 2 of the regular bags. The kids love it when they come over. It is the first thing they head for. The adults love it too.

based on the dimensions, about 225 cubic inches for the entire dispenser; so about 2 to 3 cups a section.

Does it come apart to clean it?

My husband bought this elsewhere (for more money) and it did not come apart easily. We had to remove one screw and three springs and even then the bottom did not come away from the clear upper part. It is still drying and I'm hoping we can get it back together properly.
