The heating feature seems to work better than the cooling, as this thing CAN burn you out of the bed in the winter, so really cold natured folks will LOVE it. Us hot natured, as stated it will lower the temp a good 10-15f, or more, but it is the constant flow of cool water coming in that really makes the difference. The heat does not stack up in the bed and start rushing to the surface ending in you waking up in deep sweat from the oven bed you created. Does the cooling/heating work over the entire area of the pad or only in certain areas?** A: Hi The pad is about as thick as a normal mattress pad (1/2 inch thick). The cooling/heating area depends on the size of the mattress pad you purchase. For example. If your purchase a duel queen pad you can allow the pad to work over entire queen bed. This works because it comes two cube units and a queen pad that allows the whole bed to cool or warm. You can also purchase a single zone to allow only one side of the bed to cool! **Q: Has anyone figured out how to clean the water reservoirs? I've had mine for about two years and it's starting to look a little gunky.** A: Dump all the water out. Place new water in and flush the system. Dump that water and do it until it's clean. I had to use a Qtip to get any floating debree out. I did use peroxide as the direction stated. Hope this helps. **Q: So whats the difference if i were to buy a pad and a high quality aquarium cooler and just plug it in? Other than being a couple hundred dollars less?** A: Not for sure about the water pressure variations using an aquarium cooler versus the chili pad unit designed and tested for the pad. **Q: Can I put the cooler in a closet and drill holes thru the bedroom wall to reach the mattress pad?** A: The tube that is attached to the mattress pad is about 7 ft maybe a little longer. If your headboard is against the closet wall I would imagine you can do this. You do need about 2 feet of space around the cooling cube for proper air flow. This is a heat ex-changer not an air conditioner. I do not know if the remote will work with that kind of setup. The cube sounds like I am running a small fan next to the bed. I have mine setting on the floor under my bedside desk.
