Cute, functional, and not just for kids! I’m blown away!
I ordered these because my mom is battling cancer and she fell the day before Easter and broke her arm. Living in a large house and worried about her when I’m in my in-law suite, we needed a way to communicate if she needed me for anything. Easier than texting or calling with the push of a button. I can’t tell you how HAPPY we both are. We named our talkies “Hootie” because the devices remind us of owls lol. The FM function is phenomenal and my mom uses it everyday haha. Crystal clear communication. Small compact design with efficient ways to wear it. The battery life is quite impressive. We never turn them off and they last for days and days. I’m so glad that this purchase brought comfort, a sense of safety and an efficient way to communicate with me if she needs me at the drop of a hat. :)

Amazing Value – Great Reception and Fun to Use
I bought these to use with my team at school, and they have been fantastic! The reception and distance are amazing—we tested them all around the school and had zero interruptions. The sound is very clear, making communication easy to understand. The bright, fun colors are a nice touch, and they come with both a watch band and a neck strap. We personally clip them to our badge lanyards, and the students sometimes use them as well. They’re super lightweight, so even kids can handle them comfortably. The durability is impressive—I’ve dropped mine multiple times, and it still works perfectly. For the cost, this is an excellent value. I highly recommend these for teachers, families, or kids who just want to have fun talking to friends around the neighborhood. The quality feels solid and not cheap, so there’s no worry about them breaking with regular use. A great purchase all around!

making Mom feel safer, cutely!
EDIT: A few months after my initial purchase, i have more information to add to my review. There's good news and bad news. First, the bad news. Out of the 6 radios total i've put into use, two of them became unresponsive after a very short period of time (one around 3 weeks, the other at 6 weeks); by "unresponsive" i mean that none of the buttons did anything when pressed, and incoming transmissions were ignored. The good news, part one: there turned out to be a fix for this!! Hold down FM (the nose) and PTT (the talk button on the ear) to reset the radio. It worked like a charm! The good news, part two: the seller was really super cool through this, and went way, WAY above and beyond to make sure i was happy. They actually restored a small piece of my crumbling faith in humanity -- they were THAT NICE. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Although my elderly mother lives with me, she remains very afraid of injuring herself in a fall and not being found for a while. An emergency call button didn't seem like a good fit for our situation, so since i'm always nearby, we thought we'd try having her wear a walkie-talkie. I selected these because they're small and can be worn either as a pendant or a watch; the fact that they're also cute was basically icing. I was concerned Mom might have trouble with the sound quality, as she's a little deaf, but she can hear and understand me just fine through them. After trying them out for a bit, we decided we like them well enough to order a second set so that two of them can be charging while the other two are in use. Speaking of charging, my personal experience implies that "5 days stand-by" may be an overgenerous estimate, or at the very least, somewhat misleading. Mom and i exchange maybe 2 sentences per day via walkie-talkie, and still the batteries never seem to last more than two days (her unit needs charging more often than mine -- usually every day -- for reasons clarified in the next paragraph). To be fair, we have NOT tested the stand-by time by leaving the radios turned off for 5 straight days to see if the batteries last that long, but then again, i can't think of any reason why being able to do that would be useful to anybody. When i first got these, i was excited to see that there's an option to lock all buttons except PTT (push to talk), since i hoped it would reduce the odds Mom would set off something noisy when rolling over onto the pendant in her sleep. However, it appears that *only* the menu button (right eyelid) is locked by this function. Mom is constantly pressing the nose button by accident, which turns on the FM radio and startles her. For obvious reasons, i didn't want this to happen while she's sleeping or cooking, but those are of course the circumstances under which she's most likely to inadvertently hit the button. My initial solution was to find an FM frequency that's almost silent, but since she couldn't hear it, her walkie was often running -- draining the battery -- either until i noticed the crackling sound, or until she heard the "low battery" signal. So i have now set her radio to an FM station loud enough for her to hear, but hopefully not loud enough to give her a heart attack when it comes on unexpectedly. If this doesn't work out, i may have to shave off the nose button, which i only haven't already done because Mom thought it would make the kitteh look less cute. In any case, we do like the walkie-talkies well enough to have ordered two pair. I set all four of the units to the same channel and they work together perfectly. The wristbands are scored along almost their entire length, allowing them to fit wrists anywhere from "small child" to "obese woman" (that would be me). Mom likes the way they look -- both the colors and the cuteness -- and loves the added feeling of security.

Great (but had issues with some not working)
UPDATE: Customer service replaced the one that didn't work. The ones that have worked have been great. Easily operable by 4 & 5 year olds The kids love playing with them and I like being able to communicate with them while they are on the playground or a few houses down at a friend's house (when I had knee surgery and could not follow them around easily). We wear them when attending events with crowds. The call button is very loud, which can be annoying but also super helpful in loud places to get the attention of the kiddos. The little fm radio on it doesn't really pick much up but who cares about that. The battery is decently impressive. We've used it for multiple play times and then left them on (on accident) over night and then used them for play again before having to recharge. I recommend these to friends and family (as long as they work and/or customer service replaces the ones that arrive non-functioning). OP: The green one came out of the box not working. It wouldn't play any sounds. I sent them back for an exchange. The second box I got, everything worked fine for about 2 weeks then the blue one stopped making sound. My boys keep the walkie talkies on their wrists and we aren't using them inappropriately. They don't feel cheaply made but the fact that 2 out of two sets have been broken with no to little use, makes me feel like they are made poorly. I'm going to try one more time. Will update.

Great fun for our granddaughter & her Gpaw!
Works great. Buttons were a lil hard for younger hands but once granddaughter got a lil older (5+) she did fine. We use them when shopping with her GPaw so she can find him when he wonders off in the stores!😂. He’s a good sport & talks to her.

Great battery life, spiral antenna cuts through brush/trees well, good features
I am a radio nerd and have tried all kinds of FRS radios and by far these are my favorite for short range applications. I took one apart -- there is a ~500mah detachable LiPO battery inside (which a nerd could replace) and a unique spiral antenna that is on the owl/cat's front-facing left year. I've found in practical use the spiral antenna cuts through obstacles and underbrush REALLY well, and can be picked up by its sister radios with identical antennas excellently with zero interference. They work fine with standard straight-antenna FRS/GMRS radios, but there's a little static when you move the antenna around as spiral antenna has a different geometry. Anyhow, each walkie has its own charging cable included, along with a matching color silicone-ish "watchband" and "lanyard". These accessories are kind of cheap and the lanyard won't hold up well to kiddo shenanigans, but you can easily substitute a different lanyard. These are the SMALLEST FRS radios I've found on the market with CTCSS and VOX options as well that aren't garbage like the other watch-radios I've seen. They aren't super powerful but great enough for my needs, half a watt output power... but like I said that spiral gives it great ability to cut through obstacles that normal FRS antennas have trouble with. Also -- 24 hours talk and 72 hours standby??? thats INSANELY HIGH CAPACITY compared to anything but the huge heavy huge-battery walkies out there! You can also leave them plugged in and "on", I leave them around my house plugged in and on so I can always hear when my people page me, even if I forget to carry around my walkie. For those who want to know -- CTCSS lets you set a "code" on your chosen channel that is encoded into each transmission, it doesn't protect others from hearing your transmissions if they have no code set, but you will NOT hear ANY transmissions except from other walkies with that exact same code set. Good way to filter out unwanted "noise" from others and keep your kiddos from getting spooked by strangers. Only a really sharp radio-knowledgeable person could figure out and duplicate your CTCSS code and break in to your transmissions. The FM feature is nice to listen to local stuff -- though its easy to accidentally press the button. While you are in FM mode, any transmissions received will still be heard (it will stop the FM radio to listen to the transmission, then go back to FM radio) and the transmit button still works. You can "LOCK" it once you set it the way you want so your kiddo won't accidentally press any buttons. Only complaint -- the buttons are rather delicate for small fingers, and I've found my young daughter easily got it out of socket so that she could no longer transmit. A simple good PINCH by an adult by the horizontal sides can pop it back into place. May be hackable -- the device is very easy to take apart with a tiny screwdriver. Last word of advice that goes for ALL LiPO batteries to get maximum life -- DON'T let them sit around drained of power for a long time (they will die/lose capacity much earlier). Thanks for reading! Edited to add: if you have powerful GMRS walkies please don't use them in short close range with these, I've found they get damaged and the mic pickup becomes poor. (My daughter was having fun messing with mine). They are also not friendly getting wet! If you need a more powerful compact walkie, hunt the KSUN M6 model

Work great for events and festivals
I actually bought these as an adult for friends and I to keep in contact at events and festivals where we would otherwise not have phones, or no cell signal to stay in touch. They work super well, provided you aren't on the same channels as any of the event staff (whoops! super easy to fix, though), and they have a way bigger range than I was expecting, for something marketed primarily to kids. The fact that they are adorable and brightly colored is also a huge plus, as they are super easy to keep track of. The USB recharge is also great, as we didn't have to pack extra batteries, and instead have been able to use a solar charger, or battery packs we already had to recharge. The option to use either a watch band style attachment or a lanyard is also super helpful, as different people prefer different things, and being able to swap them over is really nice. All in all a great product that I've gotten way more use out of than I expected. Highly recommend.

Not holding up to standards, but willing to give it another try with some more training
I bought this item for my down syndrome sister who is 50 years old and she can get turned around at the YMCA. She only had them in her possession for less than 24 hours and she already broke them by must’ve pushing the buttons too many times. Just wanted to give this review as one of three years of age to five would probably do the same thing and it doesn’t seem to be holding up.
