Bad problem. Sorry we bought it. The spout sticks shut. The sugar clumps. Steam from hot drinks is the culprit. WORKAROUND: dont pour directly into the cup. Pour into a spoon away from the steam. **Q: How many ounces of sugar does it hold?** A: It holds about a cup (8oz). It would have preferref it was just a little bigger say about 12 oz. But overall I like it much better than any other dispenser I have owned. Even at 8oz size I would still recommend it. **Q: we have been fighting ants in our kitchen (the little ones that love sugar) do you think it will protect from ant apocalypse?** A: It's nice that this item seals well. We occasionally get ants that find their way in due to overly ripe fruit; one instance was a juicy pineapple. I've had great success with simply putting a small strip of masking tape down along the wall near the line of ants with a small drop of Terro liquid ant bait. If it's close enough so that the ants find it, they slurp it up and take it back to the colony to share. I sometimes refill the drop, as it gets slurped up. We usually see the ants disappear in 24-36 hours. One little bottle of Terro liquid bait lasts a long time when using just a drop or two, much cheaper than the Terro pre-filled trays, which would also work. **Q: could this be used for powdered creamers? would it clog?** A: The spout has two settings: open and more open. The creamer should work if they are a drier powder.
