This one had more action in it and also broke my heart!

Book 3 complete! And it was delightfully epic! It took me longer than I wanted to get through it due to my crazy schedule, but I did it.I really enjoyed Sini as a character. Normally, I'm all about male main characters. Females are not my first choice (with exceptions), because finding a female I like is hard. Sini was a great choice for a lead and her perspective and powers were intriguing and unique. She was gifted, but still made mistakes. She was humble, yet incredible in her talents. She had a good balance.Though Will holds my heart and I would've have loved to see some of the scenes of this book from his point of view, I enjoyed the story very much. This is a great fantasy setting and JA Andrews is an excellent writer. I could picture the scenes so well and she does a wonderful job giving character development and her world is beautifully established. This one had more action in it and also broke my heart more than once. If I hadn't been at work, I would've have cried for sure. I certainly felt the emotions well up.What's so great about these books is that I still got the first characters that I loved from the start, but the adventure in each one is always fresh. It has all the elements of enjoyable fantasy, but in a unique way. There are dragons, elves, dwarves, magic users, magical objects, bad guys, redemption, betrayal, battles, darkness and the heroes finding something inside of themselves that makes them better. You laugh and cry and cheer and that makes a great story.Yet, with all these familiar elements, they are all uniquely done, in a clean, often surprising way. There was blood, but not gore. No language, no sexual content, no crude humor. I appreciated that very much, because that's what I prefer. A story that can hold its own without the need for all of that rubbish. And even though I predicted what was happening, I found delight in the reveals.I also appreciated the unique twist on familiar tropes. The elves were so delightfully elvish...until they weren't. They were different from the norm. The Dwarves weren't crude, boarish characters that belched and were always drinking. They were intelligent and funny (probably the reason I laughed the most throughout). The magic users were each unique, with limits to their skills that made them relatable, yet their talents were so cool when used. The villains were also very well thought out.I was thrilled with this wonderful trilogy and it had a great ending. Sini's story was really interesting. There were a few personal preferences that I would've liked to see, but that's a "me" thing and it did not in anyway detract from the enjoyment I had!I highly recommend this to lovers of fantasy everywhere!"...Fears can overcome almost everything else. But love can overpower things too, as can the truth that we are not hopeless or alone. Breathe deeply."-Keeper WillP.S. Will has some of the BEST lines. Very quote worthy. I just had to thrown that out there! 😁👌Now on to the next project!

This book was a great easy read. It offered just the right amount of suspense and the change of characters was a twist I didn't expect but thoroughly enjoyed. I would definitely read more books by this author. It was just the book I needed to get back into reading.

    Overall, and enjoyable series

These stories weren't too bad. They weren't perfect, but if this is the first offerings from a new author, she has a lot of potential. I have followed many new authors on their journey. Some have gotten better and some have been a disappointment. I am hopeful that this author will get better as she gains more experience. The first story of Alaric starts a bit slow as almost all first books do. It didn't really get interesting for me until the end of chapter 18. From there it has it's ups and downs, but overall was a good story. The second book, concerning Will was my least favorite. It is obviously a bridge between books 1 and 3, introducing the characters and plot needed to go forward, but I felt like I had to keep pushing myself to go on. Most of the story takes place as everyone travels slowly across a grassy plain to reach their summer home. And like the grass, it seems to go on and on. There are bright spots and it picks up towards the end, but overall it rambles as it lays the foundation for the finale. The last story of Sini is definitely a tear jerker. It, of course, pulls together things from the first two books, updates what's happening with various characters and adds some new elements to bring the trilogy to a close. It's happy, it's sad and it's everything in between. This story was my favorite even though it was sad. And I felt the ending was very well done.Overall, I did enjoy this series. I liked the characters and am interested in reading other books by this author as they come out and finding out what happened to certain characters as she writes other stories based in this world.Final note: A two star reviewer said that he couldn't understand why everyone could travel between "countries" in only a couple of days on horseback. If you decide to read this trilogy, think of the other countries as states or even counties. My feeling is that they are traveling through a much smaller space than we, as modern humans, see the world. The author lives in Montana. I got the impression she was writing about the Rockies and the Great Plains area rather than the characters traveling from Canada to South America. And also because everyone speaks the same language, they just have different accents. She does mix up the accents, such as Scottish for the Dwarfs or, in one small town, the poor residents seemed to have an old English accent or maybe Cockney. The longest journey is from the Roven's winter home near the sea to their summer home which is two weeks travel north over the Plains to get to the mountains. The Plains go from Montana to Texas. The winter home was probably near the Gulf of Mexico and they traveled northwest into New Mexico towards the mountains.
