Once this is open, it lifts off, and then you can lift off the transparent cylinder. **Q: Can u buy replacement blades** A: Amazon doesn't sell the replacement blades for this. An amazing pencil sharpner which is capable of sharpening colored pencils and has an auto stop feature to prevent oversharping, a feature normmally only found in higher priced pencil sharpeners. The only downside About this sharpener is that you have to empty it out often due to the small storage space. Compared to sharpeners at this price I would consider it the best due to the fact that it has auto stop.
