Essentially, it's best to use these tools after you have steamed your face for a long period of time. I do it immediately after the show and this seems to work best. I don't have much acne in general just sebaceous filaments, so I have only used the tools with the scooping mechanism at the bottom. I'm really happy with this purchase. I feel that for your money you're getting a lot of other tools that could work on different types of skins and acne types. Unfortunately, the tools are not very effective at removing blackheads. It takes effort to remove blackheads using this kit. The holes at the end of the kits are not of perfect sizes. The whole concept is applying even pressure around the pimple, blackhead but it doesn't. Expensive brands spend money on this actually to design a product that can effectively serve its purpose. This product is probably designed by engineers who are good at CAD software only but not the design method/calculation.
