I originally bought one at a local d.i.y store to keep rain water from entering my garage, then I couldn't find them again until I saw them on desertcart. This product works great. Our driveway slopes down towards the house and no more water enters underneath the garage door now. My neighbour's tenants had some flooding with water coming over the track on their the sliding door in the back. I took one of these Quick Dams over and it helped them tremendously. I also let another neighbour know how good they are and she is using it to keep water out of her garage too. Whenever I know a storm is coming, I lay these barriers down beforehand. Just keep in mind that they should be laying flat to dry out so the gel inside does fall all to one end, turn them over regularly, and keep them out of the hot sun when drying. It can take even a few months for them to dry completely depending on how much water they had to absorb. You can use them over and over again. They can also be stacked on top of each other if water levels rise above an inch or so. I wouldn't be without them and it's nice to know that instead of running around trying to find a store that has them, I can buy 4 or more at a time right on desertcart. What do you do with them afterwards?** A: when they are dry, they shrink down to their original size, you can fold them up and store them for another rainy day **Q: Can these be used inside a door to keep water from coming in?** A: I suppose so, but I believe they are intended for outdoor use. My back door connects to my laundry room. Rainwater tends to pool just outside during heavy rainfall. It doesn’t take long for it to start spilling inside. I placed one of these OUTSIDE the door right up against the threshold. The rain activates the swelling as it absorbs. It raises up about 3-4 inches and no water gets past it. Since I’ve gotten this (like a week ago), we have had 3 major rain events, and my laundry room floor is completely dry. The best part is it can stay right where it is through the duration of hurricane season and keep on working. I did purchase a different item for inside the door but didn’t need it—plus it was in the way of opening that door when I needed to take the trash out.
