I discovered these solder seal connectors a few years back and keep ordering more because I use them for any 12v repair project. I have four on the road trailers including boats, utility and to haul a compact tractor so lighting issues are always coming up. These connectors are a great permanent solution. Highly recommend to avoid.

I’ve used these Sopoby solder seal connectors across multiple projects—vehicle mods, electronics tweaks, even a few reptile habitat upgrades—and they’ve held up well. The dual-wall design with hot melt adhesive inside gives a strong seal, and the solder ring melts cleanly with a heat gun (skip the lighter unless you like uneven results). Color-coded sleeves make it easy to match wire gauges (AWG 26–10), and the included case keeps everything organized. Once shrunk, the connection is tight, waterproof, and surprisingly durable—even in outdoor or high-humidity setups. Just make sure to heat evenly and rotate the connector for a proper seal. I didn't have any problems with these, but I can see how some might. You have to read the instructions. If you just attack them, they may very well melt/burn too much. I used a small butane torch rather than my heat gun. It may not have made a difference, but I felt like I could direct the heat a little better. I'll try the gun another time. I also didn't blast the connector. Rather I took it slow. If you read the instructions, you will see that you DO NOT have to melt the tin ring. The solder is in the ring and will flow before the tin melts. If you wait for the tin to melt, you may very well go to far. However, the tin did melt on several of mine with no issue. The connection was strong. Another observation was the appearance that the clear material had melted through. I thought I had melted a couple because the material was so clear the it looked like to connection was exposed. But when I felt it and looked at it closely, there was still material covering the connection. Nothing was exposed. I've worked on everything from military aircraft to the car radio harness I used these on. I like them and will continue to use them.

My god these things are the best invention mankind has ever come up with. Seriously whoever invented these should have a statue made of them and put in every town in the country. If you do any kind of tinkering or electronic repair, or just like to mess with stuff you NEED these in your life. I’ve been a tinkerer all my life, I like nothing more than fixing and messing with electronics and have been soldering for about 30 years but these are a game changer. Just strip the ends of the wires and push each end into the correct size tube and heat with whatever you use, I use a gas powered Dremmel portable soldering iron. The solder strip in the middle melts and solders the wire and the 2 seal rings shrink and seal the wires from water. The joint is amazingly strong when done right and is very neat. These are great to use in tight places when you don’t have much room like when your working on a vehicle. I absolutely love these and will always have them in my tool kit from now on.
