Try it on glass windows that have something hard stuck to them, like bird droppings. Also good for shimming of course. I can't see an 500 lb aquarium having any effect on these. **Q: What are the dimensions? One answer said 1-3/4 square but in the pictures they are rectangular.** A: you are correct, they are not square. They are 1 5/8" wide. Their total length is about 3 1/4"; but each end is tapered, which you will want to remove for certain jobs. Without these tapered ramps they are about 2 7/16" long. **Q: Can these be used with heated pipe? (heated steam boiler return line)** A: I would say no, they are plastic and I think they would melt or at least warp with contact heat **Q: Is everyone getting 40 pieces? What’s considered 10?
